Canon ir 4570 printing from by pass

This customer swears when she needed to print envelopes all she did was load the envelopes in the bypass and printed with no other procedures.

I get there today and load bypass up with paper and it now asks me freestyle or envelope, after I confirm envelope it asks me is the paper retaining bar in place , when I click ok then she prints the envelope.

I went into common settings and adjusted stack bypass to on and envelope and common 10 and tried to print.

It now recognizes the bypass as envelope but it keeps asking me if the paper retainer is in place!

    WTF?

she said two weeks ago she did not need to do any of this and just print now even when I told the machine MP tray is envelope it still asks me if the paper retainer is in place.

Is any way to get rid of the message so she can just print without getting off her fat ass?

U may need to redo adjustments blow
    Registering the
    Paper Width Basic Value

Match the manual feed side guide against the
    A4R marking
    .
Start service mode, and select 'register manual
    feedd A4R width'.

    COPIER>FUNCTION>CST>MF-A4R
Press the OK key to save the new A4R width.

Register the paper width basic value for A4 as
    follows:

Mach the manual feed guide against the A4
    marking.
In service mode, select 'manual feed A4 width'.
    COPIER>FUNCTION>CST>MF-A4
Press the OK key to save the new A4 width.

Register the paper width basic value for A6R as
    follows:
Match the manual feed side guide against the
    A6R marking.
In service mode, select 'register A6R width'.
    CPOIER>FUNCTION>CST>MF-A6R
Press the OK key to save the new A6R width

Press the Reset key twice to end service mode.
Hold down the control panel power switch for 3 sec or more.
Go through the steps for the shut-down sequence shown on the control panel so that the main power switch may
    be turned off.
Turn off the main power switch.
Wait for 3 sec or more; then, turn the main power switch back on.

yes- do this for all three sizes/ markings should be on the face of the tray / there is a VR (variable resistor in bottom of tray that reads paper sizes

give it a try/ never saw that message/ but have see where that VR1 craps out, and machine ask to put correct paper
size in tray- when u select paper size from control panel or if u have a default size registered for bypass tray, if the width is not measured/or detected correctly - strange things happen

here is a good test/ before u do adjustment- put Ltr or Lgl or Lgr paper in tray -select on panel -see if a message appears
