Color Universal Send Kit and
Resolution Switching Board are both required.
Resolution Switching Board enables you to send scanned color documents in various
formats to computers via a network.
Color Universal Send Kit enables you to send scanned documents by e-mail or I-fax,
as well as send scanned data to be stored in file servers or User In-boxes.
Functions Indicated on the Touch Panel Display
[Send] appears if the optional Color Universal Send Kit, Super G3 FAX Board, and
Resolution Switching Board are installed, or only if the optional Color Universal Send Kit
and Resolution Switching Board are installed. [Fax] appears only if the optional Super G3
FAX Board and Resolution Switching Board are installed.
โข [Scan] appears only if the optional Color Network Multi-PDL Printer Kit or imagePASS is
installed. For details on the Network Scan function, see the Color Network ScanGear
User's Guide.
โข [Printer] appears only if the optional imagePASS is installed.
You can set the initial screen (the first screen that appears when the machine is turned
ON) from the Additional Functions screen. The initial screen can be the Copy, Send or
Fax, Mail Box, MEAP, or System Monitor scree**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.** -
I purchased several C3220 to refurb and sell. One of them had a box with the Color Universal Send disc and installation manual, but no Protect Key device. I already have an extra resolution switching board that I can use, so is there a way to purchase just the protect key device?Comment

A simple way to verify that a Resolution Switching Board (Send Board) is installed in the imageRunner is to check in Service Mode.
*28* > Copier > Display > ACC-STS > SEND
SEND will indicate "0" if NO Resolution Switching Board in installed
SEND will indicate "1" if the Resolution Switching Board is installed
NO/ U NEED THE ORIGINAL PAPERWORK/ or try and call Canon

SCREWTAPE is right>
Resolution Switching Board A2 and Color Universal Send Kit A2P are required to give the imageRUNNER C2620 / C3220 Universal Send functionality.
The imageRUNNER C2620, C3100, C3200, C3220 , C5800, and C6800 models have optional Color Universal Send Kits available for them. These Color Universal Send Kits come with a dongle and a CD-ROM. The copier must be flashed from a PC (with the dongle connected to the PC's parallel port) using the Universal Send Setup Tool utility included on the CD-ROM in order to install the Universal Send feature.
Once the Universal Send option is installed on a copier using a Universal Send dongle, the Universal Send dongle becomes 'married' to the machine. It can only be used to reinstall the Universal Send feature onto the same exact machine. The dongle CANNOT be used to install the Universal Send feature onto another copier. The Universal Send Kit cannot be transferred from one machine to another. If a dealer wants to install Universal Send onto another Color Enabled imageRUNNER machine, then he or she must purchase another Color Universal Send Kit.
The Color Universal Send Kits that ship with the Universal Send dongles are not LMS options. There is no LAN number included with the kit. There is no key number to be registered on the machine. These kits CANNOT be transferred.**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**Comment

It is a dongle, but is the dongle loaded with information or is it blank and the information is loaded from the cd and then locked with the serial number you input. The reason I'm asking, there are companies such as SafeNet that sell these dongles that are locking types so you cant share software from computer to computer. Im sure this is wishful thinking but I was hoping any dongle that is lock protected would work, just didn't know if these dongles come loaded or not. This is probably a really dumb question the more I think about it, but oh well.Comment

imageRUNNER C2620 / C3200 / C3220 Installing the Color Universal Send Kit
The procedure for installing the Color Universal Send Kit?
IMPORTANT: The procedure described below is for the C2620/C3200/C3220 models only; enabling the universal send kit on newer Color imageRUNNER models is totally different than the steps described below. On newer models the USend kit needs to be activated through the License Management System (LMS). A License Access Number (LAN) number is required instead of a dongle.
Necessary Materials- Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP personal computer
- 10/100Base-T crossover cable
* Note - The imageRUNNER will also need to have the Resolution Switching Board installed.
Connecting the Copier to PC (Network Connection)
- Turn off the copier power and PC power.
- Disconnect the Ethernet cable, modular cable, and other cables connected to the copier.
- Take the enclosed protect key device (parallel dongle) out of the conductive bag and connect it to the parallel port of the PC.
- Connect the copier and PC with the prepared crossover cable.
- Turn the PC power on.
- While holding down the 1 and 7 keys on the numeric keypad together, turn the copier power on. (Keep the numeric keys down for several seconds.) Powering on with the 1 and 7 keys down automatically sets the network connection of the copier. (IP Address: 172.16.1.100, Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0)
- For communication between the copier and the PC, set an appropriate IP Address and Subnet Mask on the PC.
Installing the Protect Key Device Driver
- Insert the enclosed iR series Send System Setup Tool CD-ROM into the PC CD-ROM driver and double-click the hdd32.exe file on the CD-ROM. (IRSEND: \English\Vxxxx\hdd32.exe).
- Select the language and click OK.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish to complete the installation.
Note: If the hdd32.exe file is not executed, you will see "Protect Key Device Driver Not Found".
Installing the iR Series Send System Setup Tool
- Insert the enclosed iR Series Send System Setup Tool CD-ROM into the PC CD-ROM drive.
- Double-click the Setup.exe file on the CD-ROM. (IRSEND: \English\Vxxxx (version) \setup.exe)
- Click OK.
- Click the PC icon.
- Click Continue.
- Click Finish to complete the installation.
Adding the Send Option
- Enter Service mode and press COPIER - Function - SYSTEM - DOWNLOAD - OK to make the copier ready for download. (Note: the Send Option cannot be added in Download mode of Safe mode (copier power-on with the 2 and 8 keys down)).
- Activate the iR Series Send System Startup Tool from PC.
- Check that the type of the connected protect key device is bi-Centronics for x1P. Then click OK.
- Select Network, enter the IP address of the copier, and click OK.
- Click OK.
- Click OK.
- Click END.
- Click OK to finish adding the Send Option.
- Turn the copier power off and on.
- Check that the Send button had been added to the operator panel screen of the copier.
After Work
- Check the serial number of the copier and turn the power off.
- Remove the protect key device from the PC.
- Turn the PC power off.
- Disconnect the crossover cable between the copier and PC.
- Connect the Ethernet cable, modular cable, and other cables disconnected before work.
- Enter the serial number of the copier into the enclosed serial number label and stick the label to the protect key device (parallel dongle).
- Put the protect key device in a conductive bag and pass it to the user with the iR Series Send System Setup Tool CD-ROM. Instruct the user to store them securely.
