    iR Adv 5051 Fix Assy

We only have about a dozen of the iR Adv series in the field and have not established our own track record for them. My question for those of you dealing with these units:

Does there seem to be an issue with the fixing assembly on this series?

Reason I ask is because we just had one go bad (film creased) at about 150K. Went to order using the part number and discovered there is a new number and it is completely different (not just the last 3 digits).

Checking on warranty rebate/refund is next - but that is a Canon question.

The only problem i have had with this model and fixing unit is the grease that Canon Inc use when making the unit
The grease some how goes off/or goes hard
And when this happens the film makes a dull groaning noise when the unit is heating up on half speed
But when the device is working normally, the device seems okay
Only way i have found to cure this, is to re-film the fixing unit, but with the new film, remove as much grease you can get off

Apart from this problem and the Inner Finisher A1 (Grrrrr), i don't have any problems at all
    Hope that this helps

films are hit and miss on these units. We have had several go well over 400K, but we have also had to send several in for warranty. Warranty period is 90 days from date of install and under 30,000 copies.
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.
