Customer has three Canon IR machines (8500, 105 and 7105). He wants to scan in hard copies consisting of one and two sided mixed originals and print them as such. The majority of the documents are single sided therefore he doesn't want to be charged clicks for the blank pages on the single sided originals. We looked at page insertion and got close. He is willing to scan documents as PDF if sending a digital file would make a difference but I don't see why it would.

I'm not sure he'll be able to do what he wants. I know some of the newer models have what's called, "Block Printing", which allows you to scan in different jobs and combine them into one job. I know the 8500 and the 105 don't have that feature, but I'm not sure about the 7105. He'll either have to bite the bullet and eat the clicks, or separate the job into "like minded" sheets and hand collate them afterwards. Don't let the guy give you a headache because he doesn't want to pay someone to do the hand insertions. I don't know if the Block Printing feature is that robust anyway.
Good Luck
