    iR-4080 - E008-001 End-of-life ?

Can this code be reset by just clearing the FIX counters?

you probably have a broken gear on the unit.

    Error :

E008-0001: Fixing belt is cracked, causing fixing assembly gear or fixing drive unit gear to break.

When this machine had made about 1600 copies after the following warnings a. b. and c. were displayed, it indicated the error code "E008-0001." Since this error code is volatile, turning the main power switch OFF and then ON temporarily solved it. However, it reappeared when paper was fed again (number of paper was unknown.)
Reference: There is a case where a sudden load causes this error code without any warning.
    a. The message "Replace fixing…" is displayed at the bottom of the Display.
    b. The message "Replace fixing…" appears in service mode.
    c. The alarm code "060004" is indicated when making the following selections: [Service mode > COPIER > Display > ALARM-2].
    - E008-0001 can be displayed when the fixing unit end-of-life is detected or when the belt displacement temporary escape mode was executed but normal operation was not restored.
    - 060004 Alarm Code is the fixing torque up alarm.

Breakage of the fixing assembly gear or the fixing assembly drive gear or cracks on the belt applies higher load than the specification at time of driving the belt, causing the error code.

    Workaround :
    1. Check the drive gears [1], [2], and [3] in the fixing assembly side for breakage; if any of them arebroken, replace it with a new one.

    2. Check the gear [4] in the fixing driver assembly side for breakage.

    3. Check if there is a crack on the fixing or pressure belt; if any, replace the fixing assembly with a new one. [6] shows the normal belt condition.
Note: The fixing belt may cause a crack not only on its ends but also on its center. The pressure belt may also cause a crack. When checking a crack, be sure to check to see the both belts.

    4. Re-fit all the connectors of the fixing motor.
    5. Check to see if the fixing motor tries to rotate; if it does not, replace it by a new one.
    6. If no fault is found in Step 1 through Step 5, suspect that the fixing assembly reaches the end of life because of the increased load, and replace the fixing assembly with a new one.

      Thanks for your reply, charm5496.

I did check all the gear and they appear good; the belts look good too. I can turn the unit by hand OK.

But, when I put the unit back in the machine, it starts turning for about 3-5 seconds and then I get the code again.

I think the belts may bee too heavy to turn causing an overload. Can I remove the belts and lubricate them? What kind of lubricant can I use?

      Thanks again.

      Bill

Probably the dc con detect overcurrent on the fixing drive motor. The belt is turning to heavy, because its worn. Replace the belt assy, it cannot be fixed in the field.

            Even if u don't replace unit - u can try this below>>>

            E008 0001

            1) Clear Copier>Counter>Drbl-1>FX-BLT-U
            2) Set Level 2>Copier>Option>Body>FXMSG-SW to 0

or try doing a DCON clear/ remember to print out a P-PRINT to Re-Input your DCON settings back in &

check the values for Copier>Display>Fixing>FX-UHP and FX-LHP in service mode. If the values = 0, execute Copier>Function>Fixing> FX-UHP-S and FX-LHP-S.
