new (used) ir c5180 not printing

I posted before about this. and I think i found the problem and looking to see what i need to do.

    we picked up a c5180 with a H1 controller.

bypassing the h1 ( cause I can not see it on the network) i plugged the network into the copier. enabled the dchp and changed the controller type from 3 to 1 . I can see the copier on the network.

I can run the color netscan software and it sees it.
i can remotely get into the copier and go thru everything.

    cant print

i came across the status page and saw this
Max Print Speed : 51 ppm (Full Color)
    51 ppm (Black and White)
    Duplex Unit : Available
Document Feeder : Color Image Reader-F1
    Paper Source Options :
    Cassette Feeding Unit-Z1
    Output Options : Finisher-W1
    Send Function : Available
    PDF (OCR) Function : Available
    Memory Capacity : 1024 MB
Available Hard Disk Capacity (Total) : 50331648 KB
Available Hard Disk Capacity (Remaining) : 50331648 KB

my question is if the hard drive is like it states above.. is it the obvious answer of there is no SW on the drive to make it work as a printer? and if so how do I get it back on ?
and how is the copier working as it is now with nothing on the hard drive?
why cant this work as a 3120 j/k

        ok update:
with the network connected straight to the copier.
I can send scans from the copier to the computer with no problems..

        its just the printing part.....
on the H1 server how can i connect to a monitor to see what its doing?
I used a z3000 on the 3220 and that one has a monitor port (since its pretty much a pc)

The H1 probably needs new software to be loaded, version 1.1 goes bad most of the time. Printer screen just says a "check cables and cycle power" message.

If the IRC doesn;t have a printing kit installed, it's a licence actually, it cannot print. U can check with 123 button. Look for the installed options. It should say something like UFR printing kit, or PCL/PS kit.

the machine comes with UFR printing, but you lose it when the imagepass is installed. You would have to get your hands on the jumper board that is pulled out when the open-interface board is installed for the H1. More than likely your firmware on the H1 is shot and needs reloading

on the numeric display would something show on it meaning the firmware is bad? i do see it going thru a series of numbers/letters and ending up with 00
and how would i go about loading it back on?

It would come and say FF when it has gone through its checks. You can see if your local Canon dealership will sell it to you or make a deal with someone on here. A PM is the best way to work that out and most will charge...remember you get what you pay for! Make sure you get instructions on how to install the firmware on the H1 as well.

are you able to get a configuration page?

you can upgrade the RAM to 512 from the 256, but the system will not recognize anything higher as you have found out.
