    iRC3200/3220 Counter Problem

    Hi guys,

Have these problem with iRC3200/3220 in printer properties I have set it in default only print 'black and white' that mean if you have color it will print black and white copies only.

After printing I check the counter by right the counter 113-Total(Black/Small) will increase but in my case the counter 123-Total(Full color+single color/small) will increase not counter 113.

For normal copying the counter is working accordingly. Any idea what's wrong with the machine ? Possible with the printer driver ?

That default B&W copy setting is for walk-up copying only
U select B&W on control panel/ then under Additional Functions> Common Settings /Copy- u initialize the setting- it should stay on B&W on re set/ then when u make a copy on control panel , it will reg as single black

for Printing -when u print/select Black , it is in full color Black
    [all four colors]

      Hi Tecket,

1st off all thank you for your response and i understand the setting u ask me to do.

My question is after I have set black and white as a default in printing pereference>Quality>Color mode> select Black & white the copies will comes out black & white but in the counter 113 -total black/small will not increase instead counter 123 -full color/small will increase. By right counter 113 -total black/small should increase not 123 -full color/small increase.

There are a few things that can cause that. There is a specific fix for an image pass ps driver and word perfect. What driver are you using? And what program are you printing from?

One sure fix is to use a HPLJ4100 print driver when you want to print just B/W.

If you want to default your print jobs do it at the print driver level. Go to the printer and choose properties>General Tab>Printing Preferences>Go to the quality Tab>Change your color mode to B/W.

What is your printing enviorment ??
Are you the only one printing to this machine- is so do as charm5496 quotes/at the print driver

if more than one are printing, they all have to do the same procedure

or u can try and set up printer profiles for each person to restrict them to B&W

Remember > those Canon Total counters are confusing - some times when u Scan or Copy a document that looks B&W it will register as a full color B&W copy on the Total

large: large-size paper (in excess of 364 mm in feed length; increment by 1)

            small:
small-size paper (364 mm or less in feed direction)

            total: all copies (C + P); increment by 1
duplex: auto duplex copy; increment by 1

Meanings of symbols in Counter tables

            • 0: Valid counter for copier
            • 4C: Full-color
            • Mono: Monocolor (Y, M, C/R, G, B/retro-style monochrome)
            • Bk: Black only
            • L: Large size (paper larger than B4 size)
            • S: Small size (B4 size and smaller paper)
            • 1, 2 in “Counter description”: Numbers of large size paper counts
You can have B4 and larger paper sizes counted as large sizes by selecting the COPIER >
OPTION > USER > B4_L_CNT service mode item.
Copies: Local copies + remote copies
Copies A: Local copies + remote copies + box prints
Prints: PDL prints + report prints + box prints
Prints A: PDL prints + report prints
Scans: Black and white scans + color scans

I think you guys are misunderstanding his problem.

He is selecting B/W printing but the pages are counting as color.

This is a known issue with wordperfect and the imagepass drivers.

              For imagepass PCL driver:
              Properties-> Quality tab-> General-> DETAILS button
              check: Line Control [Grey Compensation]

              For inagepass PS driver:
use this profile for B/W printing. imagepass profile.zip

For WordPerfect under the advanced printing tab for the print dialog box:
              Uncheck: Print in Color

agreed, but we need more info from the poster. If you do not save the settings in the print driver it can revert back to color and cause this issue. By the way he worded things it sounds like he has the multi-pdl print kit installed and not the imagepass. The default for B/W printing on the imagepass is in a different spot in the driver.

There is an easy way to check if TOTAL counters are functioning >
                  Note Totals of 113 & 123 then>
                  make a
                  B&W text Letter Copy off glass= check 113 & 123 /
Counter 113 should move by 1/ 123 should not move.

if that is ok- test with the program u are having the issue with from PC or MAC

I think he was talking about the actual counter check button on the control panel. It has a '123' on it.1496_001.jpg

If I remember proper the Word B&W print counting is right, PDF B&W counting 1x B&W
                            + 1x color.
