Canon ir110 paper trays not selecting properly

We need to set up a mail merge job to print from tray 1 then tray 2, then 1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2

The ir110 ps driver additional settings "page features" are set to page 1 - letter and page 2 cover. The paper library is setup with letter and cover stocks.

When we print we get page 1 from tray 1, page 2 from tray 2 and then all subsequent pages from tray 1.

Any help on what is being done wrong so we can get the 1,2,1,2,1,2 sequence

    Disable>APS 'Auto Paper Selection'
Disabling a cassette for Auto Paper Selection will allow you to specify Auto in the print driver(s) and prevent the copier from pulling paper from the disabled cassette.
If you need to print from that cassette, you must specify the cassette or drawer number in the print driver.

    1) Press the Additional Functions key.
    2) Select the Common Settings option.
    3) Scroll until you see the option for Drawer Eligibility for APS/ADS.
    4) Depending on which model imageRUNNER being set, some of the following options are available for selection: Copy, Printer, Mailbox, Fax, and Other.
    5) Once the selection of Copy, Printer, Mailbox, Fax, or Other is made, go to the cassette where the special paper is located and select Off.
    6) Press OK, then Press Done.

Here's a work-around. First, make sure the target printer is the default Windows printer. Then set the defaults of the print driver for whatever you need, such as stapling, duplexing, specific tray for the first sheet, etc. Setting driver defaults varies a bit depending on the OS. From within the Printer Folder, right-click the printer and choose 'Properties' in Win 9x, 'Document Defaults' in Win NT, or 'Printing Preferences' in Win 2k. Make sure you remember to 'Apply' or 'Ok' the settings changes you make before closing the driver screens. Next, run the mail merge and choose 'New Document', instead of 'Printer'. Word creates the merge in memory, visible on the screen.

Which version System Software is running on the controller; 4.82, 4,83, 5.x. 6.x.7.x?

As I recall, there may line that you to rem out in one of the config files.

Note: This MUST be done by a fully qualified tech. One false move, and you could easily render the printer useless until this issue got resolved.

This is a totally different beast from the rest of the iR line; there is no Additional Functions key or the like. This is a pure Unix (Solaris) based controller.
