Canon IR 3320i low density after 6 copies

The first copy looks ok. But a closer look reveals the front part of the copy is
just a shade lighter than the back. After 6 copies, It is lighter all over and eventually
    is un-usable.
The customer is using the same aftermarket toner as they alway have. When they
discovered the lightness of the copy they added toner even though the machine
did not ask for toner. I am using the precision roller drum and blade which have
always given me good performance in this model. But I know it could still be the
    problem.
    Here is what I did:
I recleaned the primary and transfer charge rollers, inspected the drum and
developer kiss and made sure there was deflection of the transfer roller when
it is against the drum. Ran the DPC program I forgot to run 10K copies ago
when I last replaced the drum. Cleaned the erase lamp and last mirror for the
    laser.
I ran some test prints from the printer. The solid black looked ok but I was not
able to run successive black copy.
test print #4 the half tone shows the problem as lighter in the front of the
machine. Test type 2 & 3 did not show the problem.
I noticed a slight difference in the color of the drum from the front to the back.
The front looks just a slight shade lighter than the back.
I am leaning toward the drum.

    Any comments would help

    Thanks

I checked the transfer roller for deflection while in contact with the drum. It seems to make
good contact to me and the roller rolls easily.

Lightness in the half-tones is a transfer problem most of the time. Check transfer roller, it's contact or the contacts of the assy that is holding it.

It could be charge buildup somewhere, look for bad ground strips and such.

My two cents worth is to replace the drum assembly in conjunction with the transfer roller. You mentioned all the non-OEM stuff in the copier, even the difference in color of the drum. Try swapping in a working drum assembly from another copier to test out your color difference drum...

Thank you Fer and Mr. Fixit,
I usually don't have any trouble with the transfer rollers on this model. Most of the time I dry wipe
them and blow them off and run the cleaning roller program.
I came to the same conclution that I should put an OEM drum unit in this machine. The customer is
willing to use OEM toner. I will install the drum today and if the problem continues, I will go after the
transfer roller. This customer is 98% line copy/print, so half tones are not a top concern.
As for the ground strips I don't even know where they are, but I have the book so I will look for them.
They can be to hard to find, right? (Famous last words).

            Thanks again for your help
