    Canon iR C3200 not printing

I picked up an iR C3200 from a client recently but have not been able to get it to work.

It copies no problem, it's the printing I'm having trouble with. I can't even get it to print the test and configuration pages - it just sit's there processing the job but nothing happens.

I've downloaded the Command Workstation software for OS X and that works well and shows me everything thats (not) going on. I can see test pages being processed and waiting to print but they never go out. Likewise I can inject jobs from the Command Workstation and the same thing happens.

The printer has the X1 cassette, N2 saddle finisher document feeder and I think it's the J1 Network Printer Unit with Fiery server.

I eventually did a factory reset from the printer panel but this the problem persists. I've replaced the network cable between the Fiery print server and the printer and reseated all the cables but still no joy.

This is now the limit of my expertise. Can anyone suggest further action or even a possible solution?

    Much appreciated!

    Hi, Adam

If you are printing from Mac OSX, you might have use the wrong driver as the symptom you describe seems like you are using those without "C2" tagging Your iRC3220's Fiery ought to be the C2 with LEDs.

Thanks for your suggestion however the platform is a red herring. The point I was trying very hard to make in my post is that irregardless of the drivers or platform I just cannot print the test and configuration pages from the printer itself! I've removed the printer from the LAN in case of any clashes and any test/congifuration pages I request it prints from the printer's own panel just sit there "processing".

I've never come across this problem on a printer before. Above all else you should be able to have the printer print it's own simple configuration page. I know the unit works as the copier functionality works a treat. This is something to do with the print server unit itself which seems poorly designed.

I've always used Xerox printers which have just worked but got their own quirks! So far the Canon has been less than impressive in functionality, though the print quality when it does work does seem to be very good.

      Cheers!

        Hi, Adam

Mis-read your description, sorry about that.

Ok, if the printer is "off-line" / in standalone status and from copier's LCD you are not able to print configuration page, that means the Fiery C2 might require a re-installation of it firmware. Just to check, does the "processing" goes on forever till you reboot the copier?

Yeah, understand what you meant of quirkiness. I face the same issues whenever handling Canon's with attached Fiery's controller, especially those "piggy-back" to the rear of the machines.

Enter Service mode (Additional Functions > 2 and 8 > Additional Functions).
          Select - Copier > Option > Int-Face > IMG-CONT - is it set to "3"

is your crossover cable connected from imagePass Fiery to printer
