Please help me with hard drive on iR4570

OK, here is the situation, I have 2 Canon iR4570 and we need to swap all data between these 2 devices: Mailboxes, Address Book, Department ID and Settings (like IP, SMTP info, etc).

I was planning on doing this manually by doing a backup and export on each one of those features but with over 90 users on both devices it will be a very time consuming task... and then most likely I will end doing some manual entry as well...

Then it occur to me if we can just swap the internal hard drives between these devices and accomplish the task in a faster and easy way.

What do you think, is this possible?, what would be the steps, I have replaced hard drives on computers but not in these iR4570...

    Please help and thanks!

do u have the P Print settings & User Data settings from both machines ??

what is the Boot rom ver. ?? on both ??

Backup the Mailboxes on the imageRUNNER 3570 / 4570
The backup is performed through Remote User Interface (RUI).
Follow the procedure below to Backup and Restore the Mailboxes.

A Destination Server needs to be setup on the network first. The Destination Server will be setup, utilizing RUI.

    1. Access the imageRUNNER 4570's RUI through Internet Explorer by entering the IP Address of the machine.
    2. Within RUI, click on Additional Functions and select Custom Settings from the menu that appears under Additional Functions.
    3. Click on Backup Destination Settings and the Backup Destination Settings screen will be displayed.
    4. Fill in the following fields, to provide a path from the machine to the Destination Server.

[Host IP Address] The IP Address of the server to backup the Mailboxes to (Example: \\192.168.0.172\BackiR4570). BE SURE TO CREATE A BACKUP FOLDER ON THE C: Drive. The backup folder can have any name you choose. In this case the folder was named "BackiR4570. Be sure to give the backup folder the WRITE permission.

[User Name] Enter the user name used to log into the server that has the backup folder.
[Pass] Enter the password that is used to log into the server that has the backup folder.
[File Path] Leave this field blank.

This completes the setup of the Destination Server.
    Performing the Backup of Mailboxes

    1. Within RUI, click on Additional Functions and select Custom Settings.
    2. Click on Backup and the Backup screen will be displayed.
    3. Click Execute and the Mailboxes will be sent to the Destination Server \ Folder.

To restore the Mailboxes and Mailbox content to the machine, follow the procedure below.

Restoring the Mailboxes and Mailbox content to the machine

    1. Within RUI, click on Additional Functions and select Custom Settings.
    2. Click Restore and the Restore screen will be displayed
    3. Click Execute and the Mailboxes and Mailbox content will be sent to the machine.

    * Note
Even though the Mailbox information was sent to the machine, the Mailboxes will not be fully Restored until the machine is turned off and back on again.

    *CAUTION*

To complete a Mailbox backup / Restore operation it may take up to five hours to complete. Do not turn the Main power switch of the machine OFF until the operation is complete, as this may cause the machine to malfunction.

So in other words you do not recommend to swap the internal hard drives on these devices?

Hi there, I'm in the process of refreshing these iR4570 with the iR3245i.

The process to backup/restore the current mailboxes would be the same?

              Thanks!

                  Backing Up and Restoring Mailboxes

With the newer devices, you can back up the mailboxes to a shared folder on a computer and then later restore them on the machine. This option backs up the mailbox name, password, and also the contents of the mailbox. Perform the following steps to set up this option:
                  1. From Remote User Interface, select Additional Functions.
                  2. Select Custom Settings.
                  3. Select Backup/Restore Settings.
                  4. Select Backup Destination Settings and enter the settings as follows:

                  HOST IP ADDRESS: \\COMPUTER_NAME_OR_IP_ADDRESS\shared_folder_name.
FILE PATH: path to the folder within the share (blank if sending to root of shared folder).
USER NAME: enter a valid user name that has write privileges to the host that you are sending to.
PASSWORD: enter the valid password for the user that you have entered above.

                  5. After setting up the destination settings then you can use the backup option to backup the mailboxes to your computer and then the restore option to restore it on the machine.
                  backup.jpg
NOTE: It is possible to schedule mailbox backup jobs and to perform differential backups on certain models.

                  imageRUNNER 2270 / 2870 / 3570 / 4570 / 5070 / 5570 / 6570 / 3025 / 3035 / 3030 / 3045 / 5050 / 5065 / 5055 / 5070 / 5075 / 5570 / 6570 / 7105 / 7086 / 7095, Color imageRUNNER C5185i / C5180 / C4580 / C4080 / C4080i / C4580i / C5180i / C3380 / C3380i / C2880 / C2880i, imagePRESS C1 / C7000VP

Backup Mailbox Data on the imageRUNNER Series
                  How to backup mailbox data-

From the RUI (Remote User Interface) on some imageRUNNER models you are able to backup the mailbox contents or data.

                  1. Open the RUI by entering the IP address of an imageRUNNER in the address bar of a web browser.

                  2. Choose the Add. Func. (Additional Functions) button.

                  3. Choose Custom Settings.

                  4. Scroll down to Backup. Set up the correct Backup Destination Setting.

                  5. Choose Backup. Click [Execute] to start backing up the data in user in-boxes. This will backup the data to a BOX folder where you specified in the Backup Destination Setting. Inside the BOX folder will be each mailbox number and contents. You cannot view the files at this point. You will have to restore the data back to the imageRUNNER to view the files in the mailbox.

                  6. From Custom Settings, scroll down and choose Restore. Click [Execute] to restore. All data in user in-boxes will be overwritten when restarting.

                  7. Restart the imageRUNNER. You may see the following messages on the imageRUNNER LCD, please do not turn off power at this point. Remaining data is being erased, please do not turn off power. Restoring inbox data, do not turn off power. Then the imageRUNNER will reboot, shows the Wait... screen, let it complete and boot up. Now you will be able to check your mailbox and your mailbox contents will be there.

If they are both on a network you can use Device Information Delivery to transfer ID, Address book, Add. Function Settings, and Web Acces Favorites from master to slave.
