    ir2800

    Hello everybody,
I need to prepare a new hard disk for this copier. I have SST 1.25e and 4.32y. Ihave been doing this before with my old laptop and SST 1.25e. But now the old laptop is dead beyond repairs and my new laptop (Win7 x64) does not have a parallel port. I tried a parallel to usb cable I bought in the market but it would not connect. Any suggestions.
    Thanks in advance

Canon has a new cable that will work with the Win7 USB to Parallel scenario. Easier yet is use a regular PC that has a parallel port, load the software and you can finish the project. I know it is a bulky solution, but it will work for you. Just make sure that the parallel port is set to run in ECP mode. You could probably use one of the clients PC's to accomplish this task. This would be a good reason to scout out an older used laptop to hang onto, just for the older copiers...

      IEEE1284.jpgISOPIC.jpgFRONTPIC.jpgBACKPIC.jpg

Try to use a PCMCIA Cardbus to Parallel Port Adapter AND an IEEE1284 Parallel cable.

      or Nethawk USB-Parallel cable (FY9-4368-000)
      NetHawk Driver
-The correct driver (usbhwk.inf) will then appear in a folder named 'USBPAdp' inside a folder named 'inf'. The folder will be located in the directory where you installed the Service Support Tool. By default, it will be located in C:\ProgramFiles\ServiceSupportTool\inf\USBPAdp.

Canon just posted a tech pub, in the last two weeks I believe, stating that Windows 7 did not require a driver for the new cable as the Windows 7 driverbase supports the cable natively. The original Nethawk cable is not supported by "7".
