How to enable printing in CANON IRC 5180 without IMAGEPASS-H1 CONTROLLER

Is it possible to enable direct printing in IRC 5180 which is presently connected to H1 controller ? I have tried connecting directly by changing setting in option/body/interface from 3 to 0 and set the network settings and installed the PCL5c driver. The pinging is ok but the print does not come.

I want to do this because at times the H1 does not work and shows FF in display.

I am told that we have to attach a UFR board inside to enable internal printing. If it so how check whether UFR board is present or not ?

Also what is reason for FF display in the H1 controller

This is my first experience with this model can somebody please clarify ??

    Thanks in advance

Thank you very much for your reply sir. May be you dont know.

FYI I am handling copiers from 1983 in the days of analog copiers(Canon NP50 was the first machine I serviced). What I asked was a technical clarification because a lot of options come in the configuration and even highly trained technicians (like yourself) are not able to give proper information.

If you think you are the only copier technician or engineer in the whole world then you are wrong.

Its probably a copier bootrom in your machine but if you hit the counter 123 button and device configuration do you see PCL / UFR / PS in the list ?

          imageRUNNER C4080 / C4580 / C5180

          - UFRII/PCL Printer Kit -N1 (optional)
          - PS Printer Kit -N1 * (optional)
          - imagePASS H1 (optional)
          - ColorPASS GX100 (optional)
          * PS Printer Kit-N1 requires that UFRII/PCL Printer Kit-N1 and iR 512MB Expansion RAM-C1 be previously installed.

          the UFRII/PCL Printer Kit-N1 or the PS Option-N1 installed on the imageRUNNER C5180 / C4580 / C4080 Series?
          There is no N BootROM for the C5180 / C4580 / C4080 Series.
In order to print using the UFRII/ PCL Printer Kit-N1 or the PS Option-N1, you should receive a LAN number in the kit and MUST register it online using the License Management System. The key must then be entered on the machine in Additional Functions > System Settings > scroll down > License Registration. Press 'Start' on the License Registration screen and then reboot the copier.
To verify the printer kit is installed:

          1. Press the Counter Check button, then hit 'Device Configuration'. If the printer kit is installed, it will be displayed here (ex. UFRII/PCL Printer Kit).

          OR

          2. Check the LCNS-TR setting under Service Mode Level 2 > Copier > Option. The ST-LXUFR and ST-PCL should be set to '1', if the UFRII/PCL Printer Kit-N1 is installed. The ST-PS should be set to '1' only if the PS Option has been installed. If these options are set to '0', it means that the option is not installed.

          * Remember that the PS Option-N1 requires the UFRII/ PCL Printer Kit-N1 and the iR 512MB Expansion RAM-C1 (bringing total memory on copier to 1.5 GB).

In order to print via TCP/IP, make sure the RAW and LPD Settings are turned 'On' under Additional Functions, System Settings, Network Settings, TCP/IP Settings. LPD may be set to 'Off' by default.

          * Note: The Printer Kit license can be transferred from 1 machine to another, the same way a Universal Send Kit can be transferred. Make sure to have the disable code when calling the TSC to perform the transfer. On the i models (C5180i / C4580i / C4080i), the printer kit is standard and cannot be transferred.

FF =CODE /Check external and internal connections and cables.
make sure the DIMM is in correct position
**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**

Thank you teckat and skynet for your replies. i have more clarity on this now.

As per this information IRC 5180 basic machine is without any Printer kit. This unit basically was working with H1 Imagepass. so now to enable the internal printing customer has to install UFRII/PCL printer kit N1 and PS upgrade kit if needed.

Thank you teckat and skynet once again for your clarifications.
