what is the exact ERROR CODE/MESSAGE ??

were u just trying to upgrade or did u replace HDD ?

make sure u have only ver. of SST on Laptop-
Make sure u are in correct download mode-

    1. Double click the 'My Computer' applet on the desktop.

    2. Right click the drive letter that you are working from (in most cases this will be the 'C' drive) and select properties.
    3. Check the box for the 'Allow Indexing Service to index this disk for fast file searching' option.
    4. Click Apply and then OK.
    5. Try installing system software on the device again.

Are you using the parallel port or the network port?

The network card doesn't work holding 2 & 8 while booting on this model, you have to use the parallel port.

Unless you can get into service mode Copier-> Function-> System-> Download. Then the network card is active but it will not be fixed ip (172.16.1.100) it will be what is setup in Additional Functions-> System settings-> Network Settings-> TCP/IP settings-> IP address.
