[Misc] Canon ImageRunner C4080i - HDD Replacement

We just received a Canon ImageRunner C4080ion trade in but the customer wants to keep the HDD. Could someone advise me on the process for replacing the HDD on this model?

    Thanks!

You will need to order a new HDD from Canon and load the system software with sst. If you are not a tech. you're better off calling Canon.

Thanks for the reply. I'm a Savin/Ricoh/HP tech but have no experience with Canon products. I had a feeling it would be more involved than the Savin/Ricoh. Thanks again!

The customer should be informed of the expense involved in this process, if they insist on retrieving the hard drive. Explain that a new one needs to be procured, then you need to format and load system software onto the hard drive. So you need:

        hard drive
        service support tool
        ir4080 system software

There is a data erase feature built into the device management area of Additional Functions that may satisfy the customers needs. It is Initialize All Data, and this erases the image partition area of the hard drive as well as blowing out the address books, fax settings, and such.

I believe this model supports this feature, I could be mistaken though, check it out...
