its not just the parts...someone has to install and troubleshoot. C1 is very complicated, and doing it yourself could absolutely ruin the unit. is there another dealer in your area?

As always, Teckat is correct. No one can really offer good advice until you post the contract terms.

I've never seen or heard about a contract which says that dealer can unilaterally terminate the contract because of too high service costs. Well ok, almost everything is possible but does any customer agree for those kind of contract terms? (You should always read also the small text in the contract!).

It seems that the company who serviced the machine is a Canon Authorized Dealer. So they should have the knowledge for C1.

I agree; contract terms would be nice to see...

One thing to remember, is that you leased the machine from a third party financial institution. In my opinion, that is a huge mistake, as you have no recourse to bad service. If you lease from Canon Financial, for example, and you have an issue like this, than you have leverage against the remaining portion of the lease contract. Third party financing institutions arent bound by poor service...they just want timely payments. Just an observation...

In the USA a contract is a binding agreement/ Courts decide on violations by either party.

If your Service company is a CANON Authorized Dealer> they could be in big trouble by doing this.
It all depends on how the contract is written up/ I hope u have obtained and keep on hand Service records and parts used by that company
I'd agree with teckat , if your Lawyer can't sort it out your better getting rid of the C1. The 9070 is a good bit of kit. But do you want to stay with a dealer at will saft you when it's not working out for them??

Might be tough to dump the C1 AND the dealer, as it looks like he leased with a third party. Id look at the proposed contract closely. They may be rolling in the remaining payments left on the C1, which would make the new unit VERY pricey. The key is in the terms of the service contract, and if the dealer has a basis to drop the contract.
