My customer had this setup via usb on xp. They upgraded computers to Windows 7 64 bit. I was able to get ufrII printing set up but original disk will not install scanning. It says the disk is not compatible with windows 7. Looked thru Canon USA but cant find. No network adapter. I assume it can be done. Am I missing something.

Scan from 1023N to Windows 7 64bit
Hi Brian,
Did you ever figure out a fix for this? I'm running into the same problem. -

Canon doesn't seem to support any of there software in 64bit systems yet. Besides drivers of course. When I get home I'll double check on Canon E-Support website.Comment

It uses UFR II driver for printing. Thats set up. I just have to get back there and work on the scanning end of it. All original software including print, scan and online manuals were on a disk that came with new machine but its not compatible with Windows 7Comment

I think some people responding have misunderstood what your saying. Your able to print via the UFR driver. But when trying to load the scanning software off the stock disk the machine comes with it wont load? Have you tried right clicking the disc selecting explore and right clicking the run/setup file and trying to run as admin. Also like a previous post said Win 7 has a sort of compatability mode you should be able to access. Try using these steps and see what you get.
Run the Program Compatibility Wizard
Open the Program Compatibility Wizard by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Programs, and then clicking Use an older program with this version of Windows.
Follow the instructions in the wizard.
Hope this helpsComment

If you do this the driver will be asking your to load A4 !
My computer guy just upgraded a customer of mine to win 7 64 bit. He went to canon USA and got everything he needed.
The toolbox should have all the scanning things you need. He also had the original disk but im not sure he was able to use anything off of it or needed anything. Ofcourse the toolbox software hasnt updated since 2008 .Comment

I haven't found it but my customer doesn't have a pcl print kit or a network interface adapter. Maybe its to simple to have an installation disk for 7 like they did xp. The original disk had setup from start to finish on it.Comment

This sounded like a good idea and I tried this on my Windows 7 64bit - tried to run as Windows XP and Windows Vista (since this does not seem to be a problem on the Vista), and received the same error message when going to the Settings on the Toolbox:
"A supported scanner is not installed. Please install a supported scanner, and then restart Toolbox."
I restarted the machine a couple of times and unplugged and replugged in the usb, uninstalled and reinstalled the program, etc. but it still seems to have the same issue.
Is it just that the 1023 is not compatible with Windows 7 64bit?
Simons, I wish I could talk to your computer guy because I have no idea how he did it from the drivers on the Canon site.Comment

some registry settings changes in windows 7 are necessary to allow these machines to print
Do This:
Locate the following key in the Windows 7 registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Print \Environments\Windows NT x86\Print Processors\winprint
If the Winprint key is not present, create it by clicking Add Key on the Edit menu & add the key
If Winprint.dll is not specified as the " Driver value " in the Winprint key - edit the key value.
The "Driver" entry should be "Winprint.dll"
PS: When it did not work [ during our testing] - the registry entry for "Driver" was " localspl.dll"
Hope this helps.
