Upgrade IR9070 with Print Kit to use a M3 Fiery?

    1) Is it possible to configure a 9070 with a Print Kit to use a M3 fiery rip?

    and if so...

    2) What additional parts (besides M3) are needed and what settings need to be changed to do so?

    Thanks!

try changing your IMG-CNT to a 4 (might be a 3, but I'm pretty sure its a 4) cycle the power and connect your M3. You might need to get your hands on the 'C' boot rom for a 9070 though in order for things to work correctly, but I would give it a try first.

Make sure you change the print driver as well.
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.

        IMG-CONT=4
for All EFI Black and White Controllers (Except imagePASS M1(v1.x) & imagePASS L1)
Hit OK and reboot the copier.

I have my IMG-CONT=4 and my CNT-TYPE=0 using a crossover cable. I turned off the copier and then the M3. Then turn the copier on and the M3 on and it says:

          1) connecting to Image Runner..
          2) connected to Image Runner..
          3) Please wait..
          4) Restarting server..

It just does that over and over again...

Safe to say I need the 'c' boot rom? What do you need to do to install that... once I get my hands on one.

The imagePASS-M3 is supported for use with the C-type BootROM ONLY.

Someone removed that C boot rom when they installed that other Kit/ Look inside back of machine

            imageRUNNER 8070/9070/85+/105+
FM2-3887-000= Copier boot rom/ order from Canon

where did u get this imagePass M3 from ????

do u have the power cable plugged in on M3 ??
Has the Network Interface Adapter been installed on the copier?

is the Dongle connected to USB Port ??

The message Connecting imageRUNNER always displays during start up to indicate that the iR-M3 is trying to establish communication with the copier.
The message Please connect imageRUNNER displays when the Ethernet Crossover interface cable is not connected between the iR-M3 and the copier, or when the copier is powered off. This message will not display after you connect the Ethernet Crossover interface cable.

Did u read how to First do the Preliminary checkout
            -
After completing the preliminary checkout, then connect the iR-M3 to the copier.
The iR-M3 and copier communicate through an Ethernet Crossover interface cable connecting the to the Ethernet port on the copier.

The Ethernet network cable at the customer site and the Ethernet Crossover cable
included with the iR-M3 (for connecting the iR-M3 to the copier) are not
            interchangeable.

Make sure you attach the correct cable to the appropriate RJ-45 port on the iR-M3 back panel

READ BOOK and look over all connections shown in M3 picture layout page 28

Should the imagePASS-M3 be moved from any imageRUNNER to another
imageRUNNER, be sure to execute a “Factory Default” before you connect the imagePASS-M3.
Executing a “Factory Default” enables the imagePASS-M3 to be connected to another type of copier or printer.

The imagePASS-M3 can only be connected to an imageRUNNER 8070/9070/105+ copier or the
imageRUNNER 85+ printer. The imagePASS-M3 can not be connected to an imageRUNNER
              5020/6020/7200/8500/85/105.
When installing an imagePASS-M3, be careful to plug the network cables for the connection to the copier and the connection to the network into the proper ports on the back of the imagePASS-M3.
The top most network port is used to connect to the copier. The port immediately below the top most port is used to connect to the network. The port in the expansion card (Video PCB) is not used.
