iR5000 prompts for password in web interface?

    Hi all,

I don't normally work on copiers, but one of the companies we support is having trouble getting in touch with their normal copier tech. The office manager there routinely adds "client numbers" to the machine. She does this by going to the copier's IP address in a web browser and then clicking "Add. Func.". She can get to the main copier page, but when she clicks on "Add. Func." it prompts for a username and password. The password box is the standard internet explorer password prompt. We have tried several combinations using "admin" or "administrator" as the username, and then using the password she knows to get into the copier on the physical key panel, but nothing seems to let us in to that page.

This just starting happening, before she would click "Add. Func." and it would just let her into the page, no password prompt appeared.

Does anyone know what password it is asking for, or if this is some sort of malfunction with the copier, or if there is some way to reset the password it is asking for?

someone set an administrator password on the machine. You need this in order to access the information under additional functions

See thats the thing, there has always been an admin password on the machine, it's just 1234, but that password doesn't seem to let us into the web page? Do you know what the "username" field should be?

its an administrator password set by someone who was a little too curious. This feature is off until someone turns it on. You can get into service mode and turn all the passwords off and start over, but I am not 100% that it keeps the counts from your ID's.

At least in newer color iR's the admin has both user code and password. So have you tried leaving the password field blank, and entering the 1234 to the username field?
