    IR3245i fixing problem

    Hi fellow techs,

Have an IR3245i that is giving me ulcers. Has an intermittent fusing problem.
During a long run of 100 or more prints, some of the pages will come out with part of the print not fused. The print is partially raised off the paper and you can rub it off with your hand. It is not in the same spot all the time but is usually about 2 inches wide and runs from lead to trail edge.
I have replaced the entire fixing assy after trying to rebuild the old and it still has the problem.
Has anyone seen this or does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve?
    Your help is appreciated.

Yes the correct fuser was used in the replacement. It has different connectors than 4570.

Toner is something I need to look into. I did notice there was some Katun toner being used in other machines on site but I did not check to see if it was used in this machine.

                Need process of elimination-

                1.Toner ?
                2.Heat/Pressure ?
                3.Correct constant voltage ?
                3.Nip Check
                4.TONER

Toner is Canon OEM. This morning I tried adjusting a few things in service mode. Raised fuser temp to max. Hate to do that because they run a lot of 2 sided. Also changed setting in Fixsmr. Raised it to 3.
Worked fine while I was there. Will give it a few days or wait until they call back this afternoon
                  I will keep you posted.

did you check the auctuator for the fuser on the right door? By bumping up the fixing temps you are covering up an issue which usually comes around and bites in the hind side.

I didn't think of that,,, the operators can induce a problem by slapping the right door closed too hard, usually happens when they have a lot of jamming, and they get frustrated. Slamming it home too quickly can cause that hoop latch on the door to jump over the white plastic pressure restore/release mechanism, leaving the fuser unclamped.

it was fresh in my mind from earlier this week, but I have seen this several times at the local government accounts.

Funny, had that exact thing on Friday.

3245, door being shoved with enough force to knock out David Hay.

And yes they were annoyed with the 0107 jamming season.

Thanks for the tips. I will check the door latch mechanism on Monday.
