    E197 on iR1020 with e-maintenance

    Hi Everybody!

We have a 85 different Canon machines all with e-maintenance in a customer, including 25 pieces of iR1020. A some of iR1020 complaining about E197 error code about twice a months. Calling the customer he/she says haven't saw that error code, everything is allright. We have freshed the firmware to the latest one, but the error mails still came back.

Here is the message detail from e-maintenance:

    Product Name: iR1020
    Device ID: DQQ16xxx
    Address: N/A
    Device Installation Location: xxxxxxxxxxxxx VI.609.
    Tel: +361xxxxxxxx

    Occurred: 20-04-2011 16:06
    Error Code: E197 - 0000
Error Description: Erroneous communication between the DC controller PCB and image processor PCB was detected.

Have anybody experienced with this problem?
    Thank you for your help.

Check Ribbon Cable between the DC Controller and the Image Processor

Check your wall outlet for proper voltage=in your Country
    Neutral to Hot
    Hot to Ground
    Ground to Neutral-should be 0v/0.5v

Install a Line Filter on effected machines to reduce electrical issues
poor grounding can damage Main Controller, which contributes to poor communications-
if E187 happens on power on/could be a defective Power Supply

Canon recommends dedicated lines on imageRunners, that could be costly, but it eliminates issues
**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**
