I have a Canon 1370f that is showing repeated long marks down the left side of the paper, very close to the edge. I replaced the drum unit but did not solve the problem. Turns out it is the developer housing that detaches from the drum and holds the toner cartridge. It must be leaking or something. I see a new unit is over $200 and the customer is going to balk at that. Can I rebuild it? Wiping the dv roller on the side that shows the mark did make it go away for a few days but it has come back. Hate to trash the machine but she does not want to pay close to $300 for the part and my labor. Thanks for any help!

Squigally(?) lines probably. Common problem. Take the lid off the developer, dump the toner out, remove the metering blade that trims the coating on the dev roll.Vacuum out the housing of all remaining toner. Wipe the metering blade and re-install it. Take the old toner that you emptied out,put it in a Ziploc bag and shake it. Re-install back into dev housing. Clean the transfer roll also(dry wipe). You will see that the line offsets lightly on the back of the page. Toner gets a weird charge or somethingComment

Awesome help, thank you teckat and especially Canuck! I have never rebuilt a dv unit but it's high time I did this. Not going to do this at the customer's site though, will leave a loaner and just take the whole machine back.Comment
