    Imagepress 7000 run length

    Hi guys;

    Quick question on the Imagepress 7000VP. Our shop was recently awarded a monthly print project which consists of (7) 2 sided 11 x 17 pages, 4/4, 80# gloss text. Quantity is 10,000 total books. (half folded and saddle stitched.) the project is something we would normally broker to an offset printer for production. My question is....would this be something which could be done on the 7000. Remember...this is monthly. We do not currently have a 7000, but if it is capable, then we would aquire.

    Any input is always appreciated!

      Depending on who maintains!
      If it ain't broke, don't fix it

        WOW, you could do it... But why? At about 70 hours to run the job and the shear cost versus offset. Not worth it. We have both a C7000 and a 5 color press at our shop. I talked with our estimator about this and was told it would be roughly 5x the cost to do.

        With that said, at the fact we find it a very easy to maintain machine that runs for long periods before needing to go down for maintanance. A very dependable machine.
