Hooking up an M1 to a Canon iR105

What hardware, if any, is required in order to hookup a Fiery M1 to a Canon iR105?

As a small business IT consultant, commercial printers/copiers are not really my line of expertise. I'm under the impression that the client's Canon iR105 is going to need to have something done to it in order to use a Fiery M1 with it but it's unclear to me what actually needs to be done. The company who handles the printer stuff is talking about $3000 in hardware and time/labor to get a used M1 hooked up to the machine and that number does not include the M1 itself. I'm ok letting them do it but I do think the ROI may not pencil out if it takes so much money to get this thing hooked up and working.

I'm unsure what they are talking about. They said something about "wiring" so I'm guessing they are probably talking about networking. I'm also guessing that the reason for the $3000 estimate is that they probably charge $150 to $200 per hour although I don't know what their actual hourly rate is. It's a pretty big company and I think they are really good at what they do although you pay quite a bit for their service. Because I do not believe they are a scam, I won't list their name here.

Requirements for Setup and Installation:
When installing the imagePASS-M1, it is important that the imageRUNNER has the COPIER version of firmware and System Software; which must be of a minimum version of v10.56.
When installing this copier version of System Software, it does not matter if the Boot ROM in the machine is a C type or an N type.
Service Support Tool v1.28Ef or higher - This Service Support Tool will enable flashing system software from N type to C type when an N type Boot ROM is installed. This version also improves data backup.
You will need to verify that all the firmware on the imageRUNNER is at the minimum levels before installing the system software.

You will need to switch the iR 7200/8500/85/105 to imagePASS mode for functionality:
1. Enter Service Mode (Additional Functions > 2 & 8 > Additional Functions).
2. Select "Copier > Option > Int-Face > IMG-Cont"
3. Change the setting from "0" to "1"
4. Power cycle IR8500.
TCP/IP Address settings:
Once the copier is placed into imagePASS mode (IMG-Cont=1), it is automatically configured with the following settings:
TCP/IP address 10.255.255.2 Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0 Gateway Address 10.255.255.255 *NOTE: These settings will create the internal network between the imagePASS M1 and the imageRUNNER 7200/8500/85/105.
*NOTE: You will set your network TCP/IP settings at the imagePASS M1.
*NOTE: When you change to imagePASS mode, you CANNOT access the network settings at the imageRUNNER 7200/8500/85/105.
*NOTE: The imagePASS M1 requires a minimum of v1.1 system software to connect to the imageRUNNER 105 / v2.01 for the imageRUNNER 7200.

will they service M1 , if u have issues/ do they service your 105 ??

Additional question

This was very helpfull as I have an M1 that was working fine to an IR105 then stopped. This is the second time it's happened and last time I just baought a used M1 but can't find one local and need to be up and running fast! My M1 boots up and then gets stuck in a circle of connecting > connection established > please wait . and keeps doing that. I'm sure my stored setting are gone in the M1 but the menu option when entering the M1 configuration does not have the choices anymore for setup. Is my M1 dead? So thank You!
