    Imageclass 6550

I told a customer who had a brother hl 5170 (used in network) to repace with 6550,which they did, only to find out it is not network capable.I have been copier tech for almost 30 years but know little about printer and network workings. Is there any solution to my embarrisng problem as I thought all printers above inkjet level were network capable today?
    Thank yoy, Andy

You could tell them to get a network print server for it like an HP Jet Direct or something. It's a little box that you can plug the parrallel cable from the copier/printer in to it and the RJ-45 connection can go directly into the network jack. It will act as an external NIC card for the copier as long as the copier has a Parrallel or USB print port.

The Canon 6500 series for networking starts with the 6570 Model. Canon put out a low end type (Basic-C,S,Print) 6550. Try a D-link Printer router, Stars around $ 65.00 and up. Depending on what type of PC your customer has. Canon will have low end Products to put out for the Consumer shelf. IE retail stores. (Profit) For more Info: Check out D-Link | Welcome .AN Image Class is no Image Runner. Canon humor ?
