    Dept ID and Cost Control

I have a customer (education sector) who is willing to replace a bunch of different laser printers with 3-5 b/w mfp. Internal staff will be using these machines, not the students.
They will have 25-40 users (staff). Of course they are looking for the cheapest solution.
Their IT wants that each user has it's own ID + Pass and most important : he wants to be able to check "who has printed what" at the end of the month.

I was thinking to offer them some 45 cpm (iR4570NE).
And for the iD+Pass : To use the already built in function in MEAP.

Since I don't have much experience in this : I am not sure what to offer for centralized cost control.
Maybe: imageWARE Accounting Manager for MEAP ?

Anyway I am looking at the cheapest solution.
Other competitors are in the race...

Well the cheapest solution is probably to use the iR's built in ID-management. Just create the required ID's to one device and then copy them via RUI to your PC. Then import the data file to the other devices. When customer wants to check the ID lists, he can go to the ID management menu via RUI or the iR itself. From there, he can print the lists and see how much copies and prints are taken with different ID's. Quite simple when you have like 1-5 iR's. But if you have more devices, then I'd suggest Uniflow.

Are you looking for something like this? I don't know much about this company but I think they use to be Hecon. I installed a bunch of Hecon products when I was a Tech and never had a problem with them. Never used this system and I don't know cost but it may be worth looking into.

Equitrac.>>>>Print Management and Cost Recovery Software | Equitrac

            iR Equitrac Connectivity Chart.pdf

To interface the the iR2270/2870/3570/4570 and iR2230/2830/3530 to an Equitrac or Coin counter, a Canon Copy Control Interface Cable maybe required. In some cases this cable is shipped standard with the device, while other models require the cable be purchased separately. Some models were not initially shipped with the cable enclosed, but it was added as a standard component as of a certain date or model serial number. Please note that if the cables ships standard with the device, it is already included within the main unit, and does not ship as a separate cable. The item number for the cable is 7096A012AA.

imageRUNNER 2230 Prior to KJC05074 (May 2005) Requires Copy Control Interface Cable
(KJC05074 and after: Cable comes standard)

imageRUNNER 2270 KBT and prior to KGJ07196 (May 2005) Requires Copy Control Interface Cable
(KGJ07196 and after: Cable comes standard)

imageRUNNER 2830 Prior to KJY01218 (May 2005) Requires Copy Control Interface Cable
(KJY01218 and after: Cable comes standard)

imageRUNNER 2870 KBM and prior to KGC02324 (May 2005) Requires Copy Contol Interface Cable
(KGC02324 and after: Cable comes standard)

imageRUNNER 3530 Prior to KJG04808 Requires Copy Control Interface Cable
(KJG04808 and after: Cable comes standard)

imageRUNNER 3570 KBF and prior to KFV10991 (May 2005) Requires Copy Control Interface Cable
(KFV10991 and after: Cable comes standard)

imageRUNNER 4570 KAY and prior to KFP05975 (May 2005) Requires Copy Control Interface Cable
(KFP05975 and after: Cable comes standard)

The Copy Control Interface Cable is connected to J1060 on the Main Controller.
In Service Mode make the following changes:

            Equitrac installation

            Level 2 > Copier>Option>ACC> CC-SPSW to "1"

            For a Coin Box installation

            Level 2 > Copier>Option>ACC> CC-SPSW to "1"

            Level 1 > Copier>Option>ACC> Coin to "1"

(The LCD will now indicate Please Insert Coins)

Is equitrac still an add on next to the machine, or is there an embedded option now? We moved away from those a good few years ago. I presume to plug the Uniflow side of things.
Have also seen a similar thing from BILLBACK. But all those add on devices are rare here now.

But as has been said, easiest , cheapest option for a few machines is inbuilt ID management. Print and re set the counters each period.

Lawyers here love to use Equitrac.
                  They bought out the competitors
They are very sophisticated now. Control Fax, Scan, colour and black/white costs, on our machines.
They are connected to the network via IP address.

Uniflow is pretty cool, allows you to pick up your prints at any machine via Follow Me printing.
As said before ID modes is cheapest, just need to be enabled.

i agree with you guys id modes are the cheapest solution if you have 3-5 machine but if you 20 to 50 machine uniflow is the best for me.

                      Thanks Folks !

I have a meeting with customer next week, and will reflect your suggestions.

Though I believe they will go for the Dept. ID option.
