    Canon IR8500 - add a net card

I just brought this printer and didn't realize it only had a lpt card...
I want to add a network card. What do I have to do to do this...
I think I need to add the pdl printer kit (B-5) & (boot rom)?

Will there be anything else that I will need to do?

Also what about if I also add the M-2 rip?

    Thanks in advance

I believe with an M1/M2 and a cross cable you should be good. There should be an RJ 45 connection for the crosscable.

If I recall, the M1/M2 should include the NIC which the crossover cable will plug into.

Be VERY careful! Given the age of this machine, odds are almost nil that you will find a new print kit or M1 or M2 RIP.

It's really easy to buy from somebody and then find out what you have is useless because one component is missing.

            Horror stories abound, I'm sure.

I was refering to the RJ 45 being on the 8500. I know it is on the M1. I have some M1's and this is not a commercial post. And I know this machine is dated, but can be networked with a C chip and an M1.

                So was I.

The below is from the Product Support Guide for the M2:

                m2.jpg

You can see that the NIC for the copier should be included with the RIP.

(Although this is for the M2, the M1 would be the same in this respect.)
