because software is updated often with new fixes - so why would you need the older version ?

none of the manufacturers that I have worked on ship firmware with the main unit. You may get a copy of it with certain accessories that you purchase to install on the machine, but you should always download the latest from the support website.

If available, I load SST & Firmware on site Customer's PC or on their Network Support persons Laptop if in house.

In a car territory it's no problem carrying a laptop, but in a walking territory u don't need to shlep a laptop around-
I also carry the USB Firmware ver. that is available for some models/ only problem with USB is u can't do a Format on a new HDD.

on the USB drives I am carrying around 10 of those things now to keep things organized and keep a couple of them with the imagepass software on them as well. And thank god for the collapsable rolling cart when hitting the accounts with multiple machines or working downtown!!! No way I could carry toolbox, laptop and parts anymore!

If you screw up software ya just reinstall it. If you screw up firmware it don't work anymore.
Color is not 4 times harder... it's 65,000 times harder. They call it "TECH MODE" for a reason. I have manual's and firmware for ya, course... you are going to have to earn it.

                    Just a reminder.
It is possible to load multiple models on a flash drive. The machine will choose the correct one.
I have ABOUT 7 models loaded on an 8 gig Kingston.
I had Imagepass C1 and H1 on the same stick until it was stolen. I am using the cd's now until I get the time to reload.
The method to load Imagepass A1 and B1 to a flash drive is different from older rips , so I am not sure if they can co-exist with C1 and H!
