    IRC 624 - Can't activate Ethernet Port

    Hi,
I encounter a problem with a Canon IRC 624 and network printing. For some unkown reasons, network printing doesn't work anymore. I decided to try to change IP because I suspect an IP conflict on network but I can't access to protocol configuration anymore. It says I "need to activate a network port before" but in "Port Config", I can only access to parallel port. the "Ethernet Port" entry doesn't appear anymore.

I tried to reset to "Factory Settings", but it didn't change anything. I tried to plug/unplug the mother board and plug/unplug ethernet cable to see if "Activate Ethernet Port" reappears but it doesn't.
When I plug ethernet cable, "10/100" led is green lighted and "base" led is green blinked-lighted.

(Tried to change RAM slot and CR2032 battery without success too.)

When I print configuration, I well see that Ethernet port isn't activated.

It seems to be an hardware problem, but maybe anyone have a clue on something else to try ?

Thanks in advance for any help

To rule out IP conflict, simply keep the device off the network and ping the IP address, if there is more than one device on the network with the same IP, the ping will return a reply...

          Hi,
thank you very much for yours answers

Actually, I've already ping IRC IP with and without cable and got no respons. Anyway after Factory Settings Reset, copier have no IP setted, I think. And there's no reason it should respond because Ethernet Port isn't activated.

I called provider last month who told me contract has been expired (and they don't provide parts anymore).
I wonder if the "Activate Ethernet Port" function may only appear if a network (so plugged cable) and no problem on it is detected or if it should be always accessible.

He told me that it may should be always accessible but I know, by experience, this small enterprise doesn't know well this model.

                iRAC624 is "upgraded" of CP660.

                Tenk,
Have you tried using a parallel cable to print from a laptop? I know it difficult to have parallel port with nowadays new laptop, but if you are able to print via parallel port, then you would have narrow the fault to NIC port.
As this Fiery board's internal system runs variant of Linux, your last effort is re-install the it OS. If after that failed, I'm pretty sure the board is a goner.

                  Thanks very much to everyone

Model isn't common out there, and it's not a very good color copier, I think (due of ~10 min to start and the 3 passes for RGB color copy make it very slow bit it's a very old model).

                  Thanks KL568,
I gonna try to get a parallel cable. I got a desktop PC near copier.
Do you know where I could find the OS if it's free ?
If re-install fails, we'll use it via parallel cable.

Actually, there's something else I'd like to try ; I'd like to execute the "diagnostic function" but copier ask to me for a for digits "Passcode". It seems to be different from the copier password because copier doesn't have a password. Maybe anyone knows what would be the default passcode ?

                    Thanks in advance

                    [Edit]
Well, I tried *28* (almost like copier service mode) and it worked for entering server service mode but I got same functions than copier service mode. I mean same informations are displayed on the little lcd server screen than on the big copier lcd screen in service mode, so nothing usefull for me

                      Service Mode

                      1) Connect the power plug to the power outlet; and while holding on the “Menu key,
Enter/Online key, and Cancel key” on the control panel at the same time -
“Start SELF-TEST” displays. The panel display will show “DISPLAY” to indicate that service
mode has started after the printer unit checks itself.
                      Main Menu
DISPLAY=Display mode is for displaying the status/configuration of the printer.
SENSOR MONITOR=Sensor monitor mode is for displaying the state of the sensors in the paper path of the printer unit.
TEST=Test mode is for checking while operating the printer unit.
PAPER FEED=Use it to pick up one sheet of paper from the selected pick-up slot and deliver to the selected delivery slot.
READ MEMORY=This mode is stored in the EEPROM on the printer board, and is used to read various backup data items (e.g., PARAMETER, BIAS) to the work area.
PARAMETER=Parameter mode is for checking the adjustment data specific to each printer unit and stored in the EEPROM on the DC controller PCB at time of shipment. Normally, it is the
data stored in the RAM on the printer board.
Changing each data item and executing memory write mode thereafter will update the
data in the EEPROM on the DC controller PCB BIAS
WRITE MEMORY=This memory is used to write the various adjustment data items (e.g., PARAMETER, BIAS) read into the RAM on the printer board to the EEPROM on the printer board and the EEPROM on the DC controller PCB.

Re: IRC 624 - Can't activate Ethernet Port

                        Hi,
thanks, this menu seems interesting but I can't access it.
                        "Start SELF-TEST" is never displayed.
                        I got :
                        "EFI Bios 3.14 X3E Rev G"
                        "Loading System"
                        "System booting. Please wait..."
"Diagnostics in progress..." (during less than 1/2 second)
                        "Diagnostics passed"
                        "System booting. Please wait..."
                        "Wait"
                        and then after boot
"Infos iR_C624" (it's the server name)

I tried to keep pressed the 3 buttons during each of those steps but nothing appears.

I'll try to keep pressed the 3 buttons before starting and during all boot procedure (hard for my fingers )

sorry, that service mode was for CP660, I thought IRC624 was in the same family
of printers. I will see if I can find out more on your model.
