SKMBT_C25211070513010.pdf Here is a sample of the problem. I took the transfer assembly apart and cleaned the belt and the rollers with no change to copy quality. I did a gradiation adjustment and inspected the drive gears. The samples I uploaded were of full color and two color all colors with black are consistent, not sure if it is a transfer unit problem or a drive problem. the samples were in the LTR direction. Phone numbers white out.

Re: Canon IR5180 registration issues
what about your secondary transfer roller. Is it tight and hard to move?
which drive gears did you look at? Did you clean the ones in the machine?
What about your patch reader sensors that sit above the ITB by the stack bypass? Is it sitting in the correct position?
ITB cleaner assembly? If it is sticking your colors will be off similar to what you scanned in.Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned. -
Re: Canon IR5180 registration issues
what about your secondary transfer roller. Is it tight and hard to move?
I did not look at the roller or assembly
which drive gears did you look at? The drive gears on the ITB towards the bypass and that drive gear on the machine, no cracks teeth good.
Did you clean the ones in the machine? which ones, the ones I saw had no build up.
What about your patch reader sensors that sit above the ITB by the stack bypass? Is it sitting in the correct position? No, did not check that! will it be obvious if I'm lookin at it?
ITB cleaner assembly? If it is sticking your colors will be off similar to what you scanned in. I'll check that and lube it to see if that makes a difference. Thanks for the responce

Re: Canon IR5180 registration issues
there are two bushings on either side of the secondary transfer roller and dirt builds up causing it to bind up.
The gears on the inside of the machine get dirt inbetween them causing the gears to chatter giving you misregistration.
The patch reader assembly has holders on either end and should sit level across the ITB. Dirt build up on the assembly will cause the same issue.
In order to lube the ITB cleaner blade you need drum powder. It only costs around $13 so it is easier to just replace with a new assmebly. Should be replaced every 100K.Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.Comment

Re: Canon IR5180 registration issues
That is a Main Scan issue
MAIN SCAN.JPG
Front to Rear (Cross Feed) Direction
Try this below>>>>>>>>
Clear out the Registration Data stored in the DC Controller. To clear the data, perform the following.
Enter Service Mode: Level 2 > Copier > Function > Clear > Reg/Clear. Highlight Reg/Clear and press OK.
After performing the clear, reboot the machine and perform a Gradation Quick Adjust and then a Full Gradation adjust.
Point to note>>> if your ITB Belt is shifting front to rear/rear to front/ there is a front side rail adjustment procedure**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**Comment

Re: Canon IR5180 registration issues
Tecket, Does this procedure work with the feed direction also? In this situation the registration problem is in the feed direction. I guess both of these procedures only work when there is a front to back registration problem, if I'm understanding correctly.Comment

Re: Canon IR5180 registration issues
your issue is SUB-SCAN
SUB SCAN.JPG
u can try that Level 2 procedure
It is difficult to notice wear on helical gears / best to observe gear operation is with the side cover removed , that way u can hear any slight rattle, these helical gears walk over each other .

Re: Canon IR5180 registration issues
SKMBT_C25211070615140.pdfHey guy's, check all the things suggested! Watched the drive gear with the cover off with no noise looks smooth, I removed the IBT cleaning blade for binding didn't bother lubing I thought removing would work as well. 2nd transfer roller cleaded bushings and inspected, cleaned the patch read sensor, I opened the shutter and wiped the three openings. nothing seemed to make a difference. I did run copies of each color on the glass and black lines up perfectly with original , all other colors are off If this is any help. here are more samples of test prints from the service mode! Thanks again!Comment

Re: Canon IR5180 registration issues
u see that PG10 has a SLANT>Skew /
PG10 SKEW.JPG
Do u see the image Slant>skew on the ITB Before transfer
Yellow pattern is used as the reference for sub scanning direction ( Left to right skew)
U need to pull out all the Lasers and do a manual cam re-set/see end of tech pub below-
make sure when u put back the Lasers they are sitting flush
Cam procedure is in 3220 tech pub>>>>iR3200-3220 ITB Issues TP03.pdf**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**Comment

SKMBT_C25211070816040.pdfSKMBT_C25211070816060.pdfSKMBT_C25211070816080.pdfI rest the cams on all lasers which made no difference, then I found a used transfer assembly, no change, then I did a dccon clear and re entered door specs. (there was no door spec just pprint with no ccd or xy info and no I did not make a pprint before I did a dccon clear). which made a big difference but still blurrs. the black laser was a bit skewed so I made an adjustment to the laser as a test ( I did mark it) I made 3 samples, before dccon clear, after dccon clear and after door specs were reentered. notice the image after door specs. entered the black is out of alignment with the rest of the colors.Comment
