Hi!
First of all, let me just say, I admit the fact that I don't like Canon copiers at all. It's nothing personal with you, guys, I respect you and I couldn't be a Canon Tech in a million years - this machines are just too complicated to service, in my opinion - I only deal with Konica Minolta and I love it. I hope my opinion won't offend anyone, but if it does, I am terribly sorry!
With that being said, I really need your help on this one: we service a Canon GP 335 with Fiery and the problem is, the Fiery isn't booting up anymore; after ~5 minutes after the machine is turned on, it displays the e677 code; the Fiery won't pass the "System booting, please wait..." message, or just "Please wait...". I have already spoken to a few canon techs in my country and they gave me 2 files (OCE31332.um and OCE31332.ps..) and the following instructions:
I should install the Appollo 1200 printer on LPT1 - did that.
I should connect a laptop/computer to the Fiery through a parallel cable - did that too.
In command prompt, copy those files (first, the "...um" file) to LPT1, in binary mode - did that too - these steps I follow to reinstall some operating systems on some Minolta's, so I am familiar with them.
Of course, before I copy the files, I enter the Config Mode on the machine, Installation, the Parallel Port flushes, I hit ok for copying the files, the message "installation in progress..." comes uo for about 5 seconds, and then "Installation failed. Timed out (4)".
First, I thought it could be a problem of my synchronization between the parallel port flushing and copying the files, but I have tried it in many ways for 2 hours, while the customer was staring at me, wondering "does this guy have a clue?".
I even tried to change the cable, it didn't work.
Have you ever experienced something like that? And do you think I have the right files to copy? Are OCE 3133 and Canon GP335 having the same Fiery, with the same operating system?
Thanks a lot, and sorry for the long post!
