ir2022i smb scan to file problem

Hoping you can help. Have a customer with an ir2022i who has been printing but not scanning. Was asked to set up send. I am able to browse using smb to computer level but after putting in user name and password a message comes up saying user name and/or password is incorrect. I then set up a new user with rights called scan with the password scan but still no joy. I then linked my laptop (windows XP) to the copier using a crossover cable and same thing happens. Any ideas?

I am using the send function not the twain scan function.

With send function you don't need to have scanner online.Check in user settings if you have SMB to ON.
Check again if you have maximum folder permisions.

SMB was on, folder had maximum permissions and and 4 different users ( two on customer pc and two on my laptop) with administrator rights all have the same problem in scanning.
Thanks for the info on scan to file. I will double check in the morning all the details again.

Usualy I put a "SPACE" character as username and password to enter the computer from the machine.
Be shure to have a SHARED FOLDER or Shared Documents on the computer.
If this is OK then put the computer in the address book to avoid time consuming in entering passwords.

I have rechecked everything and folder has correct permissions and so does the user.
I could not get as far as the folder info when browsing from the copier. it recognises down to pc level but when the user and password was entered it came back as invalid.
I have since tried a windows 7 laptop and it would not work when info entered via the rui but did browse from the copier AND set up ok.

Also disable Windows Firewall and any security programs. I usually succeed in a plain Win XP computer without passwords by entering a SPACE in the user and password entry. Windows 7 makes me frustrating because there are so many security measures.
