What kind of noise? Is it a popping because the card stock does not bend very easy, or a paper feed roller noise because of the thickness of the card stock and it is having a harad time with it?

The noise seems to be a grumbling, drive gear type that only occurs when running heavy paper regular 20 lb makes no noise. Mostly this would occur when using the bypass tray but in this case they were running it out of cassette #3

i think it is somewhat normal
i have heard that noise on a few at Fedex Office.
i thought it strange but i was working on other models.

could be the fixing film as it is the root of most odd noises from this unit. But running a stock of that type through the cassette can cause all types of issues since it will be going faster than it should through the unit and through a feed path that wasn't designed to handle that thick stock.
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.
