    Canon ir5570 E000010-000

Another fun one... no matter what tray the device tries to pick up from it errors out with this code (E000010-000) When turning on the motors individually in service mode they all function ACCEPT M9 (vertical path lower motor) it makes a ratcheting sound but says "OK" when it's done cycling. The nomenclature between what is displayed on the PRT-CHK mode and whats listed in the Manual is what is confusing me.

    -From the Manual-

    Code Name
    1 laser scanner motor (M22)
    2 drum motor (M1)
    3 main motor (M2)
    4 fixing motor (M3)
5 right deck pickup motor (M11)
6 left deck pickup motor (M24)
    7 cassette 3/4 pickup motor (M12)
8 vertical path duplexing feed motor (M25)
9 vertical path lower motor (M27)<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<is "M9" what is displayed in service mode part check referring to VPLM?
10 vertical path upper motor (M26)
11 side deck main motor (M101)
    12 reversal motor (M14)
13 duplexing feed right motor (M18)
    14 delivery motor (M13)
    15 pre-registration motor (M17)
16 duplexing feed left motor (M19)
17 primary charging wire cleaning motor (M6)
    18 pre-transfer charging wire cleaning motor (M7)
    19 transfer/separation charging wire cleaning motor (M8)
20 hopper stirring motor (M9); CW rotation (feed/stirring)<<<<<<<<Or is "M9" (displayed here) what is being checked?
21 hopper stirring motor (M9); CCW rotation (stirring)
    22 bottle motor (M10)...........

Anyways I replaced the the Vertical Path Motor Assy. (What a complete PITA) and buttoned it up and now I get a E000013 (Plugged waste toner pipe) I rechecked all of my connectors and everything is where it should be. The auger pipe is moderately clean and the coil is springy still???

= How does this machine detect waste toner pipe clogged?
= Is there a switch like on the 5000's that detects the coil being compressed?
= Or does the WT motor have a home position?
= Or did my mangling the TERRIBLY engineered metal toner bottle housing assembly to where the white plastic waste toner bottle slide cover no longer works have something to do with this code?

I still have no idea if the vertical transport motor assy fixed the E00010 code because this new improved code came up.

How about AWESOME! I get a new assy for it tomorrow hopefully it isn't as much of a beast to get at as the vertical transport was.....

Thanks for the thoughtful reply, pictures are always good to have!

Okay so replacing the Waste Toner Feed Motor took care of the E000013 code. The E000010 code persists.....

          Re: Canon ir5570 E000010-000

So far today I have replaced (Together as is recommended by case studies listed in NAVI)
          -The M74ain Motor
          -The Motor Driver PCB
          -DC Controller

with all of the covers off I tested the machine and it cranked out 55 copies duplexed without error.

As soon as I buttoned up and reattached the Fax Comm Board and outer covers etc. E000674-0008
(DC Controller and ALL Sytem Software must be reflashed to the same Firmware version)

Sure enough I looked at the old DCON board and it was a lower firmware version (scribbled on a blank spot near the middle of the board) Than that of the new one I installed. So note to techs: the firmware must be reflashed upon start up after installing a new controller. Duh.

To recap : E000010-000 is a MAIN MOTOR Lock Error Code.
It is corrected by making sure there are no obvious obstruction keeping the main motor from turning
(seized PR bearing can cause this)
(so can wads of paper crammed into the drum drive rotation)
(in my case it was a dead main motor or motor driver board or DCON board)

Coincidentally the machine popped a E00013 Code which made troubleshooting a nightmare...
The E00013 Code is a Waste Toner Feed Motor Lock Error.
in my case replacing the Waste Toner Motor corrected the issue.

Finally the E000674-008 Error is a Fax Comm Board Error that is caused when I replaced the DCON Board with a different firmware version.

Hopefully this will help other clueless techs like myself.
