iRC3380i with message "check fixing unit cooling mechanism"

Good day guys,

I have 1 unit iRC3380i machine with a message "check fixing unit cooling mechanism" will displayed at the panel display LCD.

The machine still can be use like normal but the message will appear. Any of you guys come across these problem ?

this is a normal function of the machine as it monitors the fixing unit.

Workaround :

If the problem still continues intermittently, after replacing the Fixing Assembly, Maisy Controller and changing FN-ENTEMP to -4 in service mode it could be related to a failure with the DC/Driver PCB. Themistors TH1,TH2 and TH3 in the fixing assembly relay the fix temperature to the DC/Driver PCB and then on to the Maisy Controller in order to properly set the fixing fan shutter opening and closing action. If the signal is lost at the DC/Driver the fan shutter will not operate properly.

Problem :
Error message on control panel, check Fixing Unit Cooling. Machine will continue to work but at a slower speed.

Solution :
Adjust fixing edge cooling fan on / off temperature in service mode Copier / Option / Body / FN-ENTMP to come on sooner. By changing setting from factory default setting 0 to a negative setting will make cooling fans come on earlier.

Settings
-4: -20 deg C
-3: -15 deg C
-2: -10 deg C
-1: -5 deg C
0: deg C { After a ram clear setting will return to 0 }
+1: 5 deg C
+2: 10 deg C
+3: 15 deg C
+4: 20 deg C

Changing setting from 0 to neg. 3 repaired machine.

Error :
Error message "Cooling mechanism of fixing unit needs to be checked."

Workaround :
This error message is caused by the Fixing Film ends heating up too much during a large job run. In which case it is not able pull enough heat from the Fixing Film. Try adjusting the setting FN-ENTMP in service mode Copier>Option>Body Level 1. Try to adjusting the temperature to a negative setting in increments and test.

Note: Allow the Fixing Unit to cool down in order to get a proper reading and adjustment

to add on >> that FN-ENTEMP to -4 is a good key-

on my 3380 monitoring notes>
this issue usually appears after a paper width size switch AFTER a long copy run >>

as in letter to legal or letter to letter R
seen this many times on heavy volume quotes from customers keeping track of message
