Canon D680 paper jams / crumples paper

    Canon ImageClass D680

Worked great for 2 years, solid performance.
But now every page it prints the paper emerges badly crumpled, or stops part way.

Likely there is something in the paper path or a bent paper guide

Whatever, it is not viewable from opening the user access doors. I have looked at all the easy to get to parts. It is in a hidden part of the paper path.

Would hate to dump what is probably still a good printer,
but must do so unless someone can suggest how to get further inside, or
unless the service manual has instructions for how to open the unit up further. (Sorry, don't have the service manual to check).

    Thanks in advance!

You have a bad fixing film thats making the paper crumple or crease, either replace the film or the entire fuser unit, if you have never done it before i would suggest you get a manual,or a qualified tech to do it, good luck

My first guess would be the fixing film is messed up. Replacing/rebuilding it is not something your typical user would know how to do. Your easiest solution may be to purchase a complete fixing assembly online and then swap it out.

Though not difficult, there are a number of steps involved. If you have access to a service manual for the iR1300/1600 series- it can step you through the process (they have same fixing assembly).

Without a manual, and a bit of experience, your best bet is to have the work done by a tech. Should take less than 1 hour - but they will probably bill 1 hour.
