You need to format the disk and then download the file. The file looks like: H1K1.um?

Then you can load from a dos prompt when you put the copier in download mode at start up

    c:/copy H1k1.um lpt1 /b

Totally Agree>>>>>>>>>"Clear the Server" on the print board maybe your solution

or>>>If clearing the server did not work, try formatting the harddrive and reload the system software for the print board.

or>> in the same screen group with 'clear server' there is a 'factory default' or 'factory reset' option. with Try that and change the hold Que to "1"

Hi Dsourendro, you must try the "Clear Server" first (as Teckat and Vigour have recommended) before formatting Hdd and reloading firmware on the print board.
I think the steps for the ir330/400/550/600 are:
Turn mach off/on, press the i/f print button, watch the screen, should say "waiting" then should say "do you want to go to setup". Select "Yes". This should take you into the menus where you'll find - reboot server, reboot sysytem, clear server, format hdd etc etc.
I think the "Clear Server" is the last item under "Run Setup".
Remember if you Format the Hdd you'd better have your firmware and Pdl downloader ready to go.
So do Clear server first to nuke all the jobs sitting on the Hdd.

the ir330-400 model has the format option on the screen. I cant remember if it is the first or second screen we don't have any of these machines in our area anymore as they are obsolete here. Haven't seen one for about 3 or 4 years now so my memory on these are very slim now.

                  from Canon Support
Hard drive is not used for copy or fax operations, only used for printing.
If the unit has fax option, check to see if "Erase Failed TX" is set off in fax settings.
                  Add'l Functions>Custom Fax Settings>TX Settings>Erase Failed TX> On/Off
If this is off, then all failed transmissions are retained; this tends to eat up the memory. Since the memory is shared memory, that is, it's used by both the Fax and the copy systems, keeping of failed faxes will reduce the page memory for copying as well. We set "Erase Failed TX" to ON.

                  The imageRUNNER 330 / 400:
Printer Board-H1/K1 has a 6 GB hard drive. Due to the design of the Printer Board Operating system, only 4 GB of the 6 GB hard drive are actually used. This space is used for printing functions only.

                  Printer Board-P1/R1
has a 10 GB hard drive. This space is used for printing functions only.

The copier's image server has no hard drive. It uses RAM only. The copier comes standard with 32 MB of RAM that can be upgraded to up to 96 MB. This memory is used for mailbox storage and copy functions. Note that at least 64 MB of image server RAM is required for mailbox functionality.

You do NOT need the PDL downloader if you have the file H1K1_v21.um.

Put the machine in download mode by watching the screen at boot and go into setup.

When in download mode attach the parrellel cable. I boot to DOS using a boot options on my laptop.

                        Type in:

                        copy H1K1_v21.um lpt1 /b

You will then see the 0% 1% 2% 3%... as it loads.

That's because it's a Fiery (EFI) controller, and not a Canon controller.

It may be embedded, but it's still a Fiery.
