    2F14 on iPF755

I got a case with a pretty new (only 5 km of print) ImagePrograf 755.

    The error is 2F14.
Of course it is easy to replace mainboard.
Anyone had such an issue and found a way around (I mean except for replacing mainboard) ?

    thnx...

PS: Forgot to say - If you turn the printer on without paper loaded in it - it will stay like that without error.
When you insert the paper it shows the error.

Yeah I was afraid you would say smth like that.

I don't know if it means anything but I was testing in Service Mode:
          MEMORY CHK
DDR - I tried 5 times. Only once was Ok, the other 4 was NG.
          EEP - was always OK

          thnx

After a long waiting time the new motherboard came in.
Replaced with the old one BUT the error stays the same.

            What else could be ?

              L Printer Tool
When a problem on the printer occurs and an error code is displayed, effectively disabling the printer, this service tool allows you to bypass the error and aid in troubleshooting. Under the above conditions, the printer becomes disabled and cannot be flashed with firmware using the traditional methods.
              1) Upgrading function of printer firmware
              2) Acquisition function of Printer Information (Status Print/Service Print)
The L Printer Tool allows you to “bypass” the error condition which allows you to update the printer with firmware.
This L Printer Tool also allows you to retrieve Status Print and Print Inf files which also allows you to better
              evaluate certain problems.

                  BOTTOM LINE

                  Replace the main controller PCB.
                  (
After replacement of the main controller PCB, the printer must be started up in the service mode to copy over the setting and adjustment values to the new PCB
properly (the service mode will be switched to the PCB replacement mode automatically).

Do not replace the main controller PCB and the maintenance cartridge relay PCB (ROM board) at the same time.
Both PCBs hold vital information, such as settings and a carriage drive time. Before either PCB is replaced, such information is temporarily saved through internal communication with the other PCB and is automatically written to the new PCB when it is installed. For this reason, the two PCBs cannot be replaced at the same time. To replace both PCBs, work in order of (a) > (b).
When the main controller PCB and maintenance cartridge relay PCB have been replaced with service parts, check that the latest version of firmware is installed in them.
If not, upgrade the firmware to the latest version.

                  a) Replacing the maintenance cartridge relay PCB (ROM board)
                  1) Turn off the power and disconnect the power plug.
                  2) Replace the maintenance cartridge relay PCB.
                  3) Reconnect the power plug and turn on the power while pressing the [Load] and [Navigate] keys. (Start the printer in PCB replacement mode.)
                  4) Release the key, but not before making sure that "Initializing" appears on the display. (The message lamp lights when printer enters PCB replacement mode.)
                  5) Wait until "REPLACE MODE" appears on the display.
                  6) Select MC BOARD and press the [OK] key.
                  7) Turn off the power, but not before making sure that "Power off" appears on the display.
                  8) Turn on the power.
                  9) Check the firmware version. If the firmware is not the latest version, upgrade the firmware to the latest version.
                  b) Replacing the main controller PCB
                  1) Turn off the power and disconnect the power plug.
                  2) Replace the main controller PCB.
                  6) Select CPU BOARD and press the [OK] key.
                  7) Turn off the power, but not before making sure that "Power off" appears on the display.
                  8) Turn on the power.
                  9) Check the firmware version. If the firmware is not the latest version, upgrade the firmware to the latest version.

                    Re: 2F14 on iPF755

Thanks so much for the reply! Unfortunately that won't get the error cleared. We started with a purge unit error, and when changing the purge unit didn't fix it we put the old purge unit back in. We then consulted with Tech support and changed the main board in accordance with the directions that they gave us. We followed those directions to the letter and still got 2F14 on paper loading. We then replaced the flex cable and carriage (carriage unit). We still got the same error so we got Canon to send us an RMA and a replacement main board. Installed board while following PCA replacement procedure to the letter. Still 2F14!! I wonder if there is a way to check that Maint cart relay board EPROM? I don't see any other board that writes to the main board. I am open to suggestions and we will talk to tech support again Monday but those guys don't care how much money we waste. Thanks again for the help.

maintenance cartridge and the maintenance cartridge status is controlled by the main controller PCB which reads and writes the contents of that EEPROM

Sorry for this late reply, I didn't know there was interest in the thread.
I don't believe this is the universal solution but in my case it was the purge unit & print-head.
Anyway before that I replaced main board and carriage unit (which comes with the flat cables)
I spent hours with this "lovely" printer.
I believe Canon has still some unsolved issues with troubleshooting in the iPF series.

If you have done all this and still doesn't work, than do the following (and don't laugh - cause I am serious)

Remove and insert the printhead 3 times in a row.

This recipe is from my book of spells. Hope it helps...

LOL! Nothing sounds too outrageous to try with this "lovely machine". I keep telling myself that we will get better with them as we learn more.
It does seem like Canon is also grasping at straws when we call tech support, and the error codes are almost always misleading rather than helpful.

Thanks again for the help, we'll let you know how it turns out.

This one is fixed! had to give it a new print head. The old one had almost 600 days on it so I decided to give it a shot.

                              Just a piece of advice:
Tell that customer to print at least once a week the "Nozzle Check Printout" and to visually check that all color trains are there.
Do this for a couple of weeks to make sure that "all demons are sleeping"
