    go into service mode

    * 2 8 * copier>option>int-face>img-cont and change img-cont to "0". Power down copier, power back up and change img-cont back to "3" > then power off and on printer

always use the shutdown procedure below

Properly Shutting Down the imageRUNNER-iR Series Machines

These models have a Shutdown Mode function that should be used before powering off the machine. Shutting the machine down properly will help protect the data on the machine's hard drive. Use the following procedure: 1. Enter Shutdown Mode by either of the following methods:

I - Press Additional Functions > Common Settings > Shut Down Mode.

    OR

II - Hold down the ON/OFF power button on the machine's control panel for 5 seconds (NOT the ON/OFF power switch on the side of the machine's main body).

    2. The Shutdown Mode screen will appear on the machine's LCD screen. It will display the processes currently running on the machine.

    3. Press the Start button on the LCD screen to begin the shutdown process.

    4. Wait until the shutdown process finishes. When it is finished, the following message will be displayed:

'Turn off the main power switch (on the main unit's right side).'

    * Forced Off Option - If the shutdown process is taking too long and you must power down the machine as soon as possible, you can hit the Forced Off button on the LCD screen. This will stop the finishing process of the hardware and/or updating of the device data.
The 'Turn off the main power switch (on the main unit's right side)' message will appear almost immediately.
THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED. It is best to let the shutdown process finish before powering off the main unit.

    * The newer machines will power themselves off at the end of this process. There is no need to use the power switch on the side of the machine's main body to power down the unit.

    5. Turn off the ON/OFF power switch on the side of the machine's main body to power down the unit.

So you mean it could be the improper shutting down of the machine that leads to communication error between the I/F board and the fiery unit? Could it be the hard disk of the machine or the fiery is already corrupt that caused the problem?. What is the chance of the scsi cable being the culprit? And I also noticed that in your opinion/suggestion you were referring to an IR machines, does it also apply to CLC machines? I'm sorry if I asked so many questions, but I need more explanation regarding your answer...Hope you understand...Thank you...

on CLC Fierys u shut down the Fiery on it's own LCD screen

On stand alone boxes, not directly attached to back of printer, u use the shut down screen on the box.

        I/F cables can go bad-
I/F boards, if not properly seated cause issues, even though they look ok

there is a measurement & cleaning procedure between PCB's on iR's that resolves many communication issues

see below pdf for complete t instructions>>>>
disregard models listed in pub./apply's to all iR's
