Check if the flag for PI41 (Tray 1 Paper Surface Sensor) is stuck. Remove the cover around the flag, check if the flag moves freely. Refit the cover & check if flag moves freely -

I'm with Teckat on this one. Most of the time those flags get stuck or break off causing the issue.

I can't recall if this model can go into Limited Functions mode or not, might be something to at least check. Additional Functions, then the tab in upper left of display, (either Copy or Common, can never remember which is which till I am stand in front of a copier ;-) ), scroll down till the last few pages and look for Limited Functions Mode, it should be OFF, if it is ON enter the mode, turn it off, and cycle power on the copier...

"Finisher Cannot be Used" appears after the finisher experiences an error and the "Limit Functions" option is selected on the display. By selecting Limit Functions, the machine will operate properly except for the use of the Finisher. After the malfunction or error code with the finisher has been resolved, you must reset the "Limited Functions" option. To do this, go into Additional Functions>Common Settings>Limited Functions Mode and select "OFF".
