[Misc] IR2800 wrong tray being selected...

We have two IR2800's at the office, both are the same version.

    Copier 1:
    Tray 1 - letter
    Tray 2 - legal

If you put in a letter size to be copied the display reads Auto 1 LTR and works fine, the copy is made on letter size.

    Copier 2:
    Tray 1 - letter
    Tray 2 - legal

If you put in a letter size to be copied the display reads Auto 2 LTRR (the extra R is white and in a black box) and the copy is made on legal size paper.

Anyone have an idea or suggestion?

    Thanks,

    Mitch

is this when u place a letter document on the Glass ??
or when u use the DF Feeder-

If so for glass copies>check if the Open/Close Sensors are activated properly when cover is closed

    in service mode check>
Press the User Mode key or Add Function (*) key>,then press ‘2’ and ‘8’ at the same time,
release them >and press the User Mode key or Add Function (*) key once again.
    Service Mode .JPG

check settings>>>>>below in service mode screen-
    for Glass copies,select
    COPIER>OPTION>USER>USER
    SIZE-DET
Use it to enable or disable the original size detection function.
Settings 0: enable (default), 1: disable
Caution-- After making a selection, be user to turn off and then on the main power switch.

    for DF Copies>select>
    COPIER>OPTION>BODY>SCANSLCT
Use it to enable or disable the original size detection mechanism for the ADF.
When enabled, the scan size is determined in relation to the original size.
Settings 0: off (default), 1: on

      teckat,

I tried your suggestions and it's set for the default value for both settings. FYI...we are using the glass to make the copies and not the DF.

I also went to the working copier and it's set the same way.

It seems like no matter what it goes to tray 2. I left the copier door open and manually pressed down the switch next to the hings and it went to tray 2 (it did say to load 11 x 17 paper but I imagine that's because the door was open).

      Any other suggestions?

      Thanks,

      Mitch

do this test/ place paper in Letter-R direction on glass/
close cover- what does it default to/or does it say to put in that paper size

hit(*) go in Common Settings>select -COPY-
        Select “On” or “Off”
        check settings for TRAYS
To make the paper drawer eligible for APS/ADS, press “On.”
To make the paper drawer ineligible for APS/ADS, press “Off.”

Auto Paper Selection (APS): The machine automatically selects the appropriate paper size (paper
drawer) for the size of the original and the set ratio (when making a copy), or of the image (when
        receiving a fax).
Auto Drawer Switching (ADS): If a paper drawer runs out of paper during a continuous printing job,
the machine automatically selects another paper drawer with the same paper size and begins feeding
        paper from that paper drawer

        check this >>>>
When you select “Copy,” you can specify whether or not to set priority to paper type.
        - When you set “Consider Paper Type” to “On,” paper will not be fed even when paper runs out during printing, unless other loaded paper matches the size and type
When you set “Consider Paper Type” to “Off,” paper will be fed from another paper drawer when
paper runs out during printing, if the same paper size is loaded in that paper drawer.

think this will set Tray 1 as default
press the additional functions key. Select copy settings screen 2 of 3. Select standard settings, then press store.

          teckat...

Thank you very much for offering to help...I'm embarrassed to say what the problem was but will any how in an effort to help others.

When I opened the paper tray I noticed a selector wheel and the wheel was set to the wrong setting..it must have gotten bumped. I set it to LTR and presto...everything is working correctly.

          Thanks!
