ir3100 scanner. Can I access scans if I can't send thro network?

Hi, I have ir3100CN and would like to use it as an A3 scanner. I only have 'fax' on control panel and not 'send' so I am assuming I don't have the 'color universal send kit'.
Is there any other way I can save and output a saved scan? - I'm a layman or woman I should say!
    Regards,
    Penelope

From Service Guide: Scan - Standard - (Color Network ScanGear) 3100 & 3170

Download Color Network Scangear to your PC, install it on the PC, configure Scangear(it is like the TWAIN driver for other scanners) to your IP address for your copier. Then you would need some software to import images into, like Photoshop. Scangear does not acquire the images, it only acts as the agent to acquire the images. There should be a tab on the top of your OP panel called SCAN, bring it online, initiate the scan from Photoshop as an Import From function...

That is it in a nutshell, there are others here with more finesse that can explain in better detail if needed.

If you need an application to scan with, Irfanview is free and works well.

You can get it at IrfanView - Official Homepage - one of the most popular viewers worldwide

        Sending Function
*The optional Color Universal Send Kit and
        Resolution Switching Board are required.

Send function enables you to send scanned image or document data to file servers, or send it by e-mail or I-fax. A variety of file formats are supported (PDF, TIFF, and JPEG), which offer you greater
flexibility in accommodating digital workplace environments.
You can transmit documents in both color and black-and-white. However, you can receive and send I-fax documents only in black-and-white.

          Dear all,
Sorry I didn't reply - was waiting for email notification that somebody had replied.
Just picked this up but I'm off home and must dash. Will study replies tomorrow.
