How to enable SSL on IR 2022I

I am trying to set up scan to email using a google apps account on my ImageRunner 2022i. I have smtp.gmail.com as my smtp server, entered the correct email and password and have tried both ports 465 and 587 for the SMTP sending port. My feeling is that the problem has something to do with enabling SSL but after hours of googling, I still cannot find how to enable this. I get a NG 0801 error when trying.

I saw a lot of posts about entering service mode level 2 and changing the SMTPTXPN to 587 but they are for different models and does not seem to apply to my machine. I for the life of my cannot figure out how to enable SSL (although i'm not 100% sure that is the problem). Any help would be appreciated.

Well that's extremely disappointing.... Does anyone know of a free email service that the IR2022i will work with?

Try using aspmx.l.google.com as the smtp server port 25 and try without SSL - you should be able to scan within your domain. Let me know how it works, I would like to test this myself for these machines.

Just an update - using aspmx.l.google.com on port 25 will work if you have a google apps account
