Windows browsing issue. The most likely cause is that the Windows computer acting as the Master Browser has gone offline without being properly shut down (ex. the network cable was pulled or the computer was not shutdown properly), or the copier has lost communication with the Master Browser. Properly shutting down the Master Browser computer will cause an election to occur to select a new Master Browser. One computer on a Windows network acts as the Master Browser, maintaining a list of the available network resources. It shares this information with the other computers on the network via broadcasts (updating what they see in Network Neighborhood). The Windows computers determine who will become the Master Browser by holding an election (a computer running the highest end or latest Windows OS usually wins this election and becomes the Master Browser). One Backup Browser is also elected. The other computers who lost the election become Potential Browsers. You can determine which computer is the Master Browser on your network by using a network scanning application. See the figure below for an example.

    1. If there are documents in the problem mailbox, back them up using one of the following methods:
    a. Copy the documents from the problem mailbox to another mailbox using the [Move/Duplicate] option. Be sure to enable the [Duplicate Document] option to make copies rather than just moving the documents.
    b. Print out the documents (so that they can be scanned back in later). Do not select to delete the documents after printing them.
    c. Send out the documents to other destinations (ex. shared folder, e-mail, ftp server, etc). Do not select to delete the documents after sending them.

    2. Manually delete all of the documents from the problem mailbox via the [Erase] option.
    3. Press Additional Functions > Mail Box Settings > User Inboxes Settings. Select the problem mailbox and hit the [Initialize] option. The problem mailbox will be initialized. All settings and stored documents for this mailbox will be lost during the initialization process.
    4. Rebooted the copier.
    5. Press Additional Functions > Mail Box Settings > User Inboxes Settings. Select the problem mailbox and reconfigure its settings (Mailbox Name, etc).
    6. Return the backed up documents to the problem mailbox using one of the following methods:
    a. Copy the documents from the backup mailbox to the problem mailbox using the [Move/Duplicate] option. Be sure to enable the [Duplicate Document] option to make copies rather than just moving the documents.
    b. Scan the hard copy documents back into the problem mailbox.
    c. Print the backed up files back to the mailbox using the print driver's [Store] or [Mailbox Destination]option.
    7. Try scanning new documents into the problem mailbox. The mailbox should now function correctly. If the problem persists, you may need to CLEAR MMI or format the copier's hard drive and reload the system software.
