I Am New and I Need Adivce On Selecting a Copier

    Hello,

Our church has an old Gestetner 3220 that needs to have its drum replaced. Instead of maintaining this machine, we want to get a more current machine. On average, we make only 500 copies a month unless there is a special project for which we might do more.

Visiting an office machine seller, the Canon IR 2525 was recommended for purchase at $3,200.00, or for 39 month lease at $129.00/month which includes 2000 copies, parts, toner, drum, etc.

I need advice on whether or not this is a good deal, whether or not it is worth it to lease rather than to buy and what is the best way to obtain the unit.

I appreciate any advice that you can give.

    $ 5,031.00 for 3yrs+3mo. includes parts ,copies, & service = KOOL
where are u located to get such a great deal
    500 copies a month=6,000 copies per year=.83 cents a copy + all service,parts,copies-
    grab it - have someone
look over that lease before signing it

Two words for that lease deal "TAKE IT" all inclusive on those items listed- never know if volume will increase-

      this a dollar buyout lease?

If not after 39 months you will have nothing.

If you were my customer in New York I would sell you a low metered Copystar 2560 for $1900.00 out right purchase and give you a 1 year warranty

Your copying is nothing even at 1k a month.

After the year is up I would sell you a all inclusive service agreement that includes all but paper for $400.00 a year.

after the 7th year with the machine you will be thanking me.

My only fear is the under use of any machine that placed there. 500 copies a month is scary low clicks.

Thank you all for your responses. There seems to be a difference in opinion though.

Seems like our number of copies is too low for any machine. 500 copies is average, but there could be months where the number of copies could exceed 1000, then others that would be virtually zero.

Yes, this is a $1 buyout lease.

One thing that I'm still unsure of. Is it worth the risk of buying the machine outright and replacing the toner myself? Is this machine itself a good machine or should I be looking for something else that's a better deal?

Based on your responses, I'm leaning towards this deal.

replacing toner is the job of the customer unless you deal with a very small company (such as myself) where I hand delivery the toner and install it if they request it.To cut to the chase hereYou do 12k a year tops and if you do NOT need LEDGER size and all you need is a simple copier you can get away with a desk top copier by Kyocera for $1,000.00 brand new with a toner yield of 7200k and a drum/pm for 100k or you can go with a Canon desk top for about $1,700.00 if you prefer Canon.

Both machines will do the job for a lot less.It is hard to give advice here as you did not tell us WHAT you need in this copier?

              Have fun

out of curiousity, do you include toner, parts and labor in that one year warranty? seems like a really low sale price if thats so.
