how do u know the HD is no good ??

    what is the issue ??

    System Software Service
ColorPASS system software is installed on the HDD at the factory.
A backup of the system software resides on a separate partition on the HDD.
You can retrieve a backup of the system software using the Restore Backup function in the Service menu.
Do not interrupt the system while the Restore Backup function is in progress.
If this occurs you will need to reinstall system software from the CD.Errors and Beep Codes during Start-up Diagnostics
When you turn on the ColorPASS or reboot, the system performs diagnostic tests that check the motherboard. While the diagnostic tests are running, the name of each test is displayed on the Control Panel. If an error occurs during the startup diagnostics, the red activity light on the ColorPASS Control Panel turns on. At the end of the diagnostics, the red activity light remains on and the error appears on the Control Panel.
Pressing and holding the fourth line selection button during the start-up diagnostics displays the Service menu. This screen allows you to reinstall system software if required, recover a backup of the system, and install options and system software upgrades.
If the system cannot display the star-tup diagnostic screen, the ColorPASS will indicate an error with beep codes and a flashing or solid red activity light.
During startup, the diagnostics check the activity light to make sure it is functional. The activity light on the ColorPASS Control Panel flashes red briefly during this time even though no errors have occurred.
When you encounter any of these conditions, power off the ColorPASS and inspect the inside of the tray for an obviously loose part or cable.

Connect the external CD-ROM drive with a SCSI-2 cable to the SCSI port on the back of the ColorPASS. Power on the CD-ROM drive. Place the system software CD in the drive and turn on the ColorPASS. The RIP should then prompt you to install software.

install system software on the ColorPASS-Z Series

-The ColorPASS-Z Series should recognize the system software CD and automatically prompt you for Install Software.
-You will see the message on the ColorPASS LCD "All data will be deleted. Continue? Yes. Choose OK to continue.

-The ColorPASS-Z Series will display Installing on the LCD and if you have the Optional Monitor you will see Norton Ghost installing with a Progress Indicator.

-At the end of install the ColorPASS LCD will display "To complete install please remove the CD and recycle power." Remove the CD and reboot the ColorPASS

-When the ColorPASS reboots, on the LCD you will see "Creating system backup...", and on the monitor you will see Norton Ghost with a Progress Indicator.

-The ColorPASS will reboot and you must Log in as Administrator.

-Configure Setup using the Configuration Page. To Enter Setup, Right Click on the Fiery Bar at the top of the screen and choose Set Up Fiery.

-Re-install fonts, Command Work Station or custom simulations as needed.
