    Re: A1100

imagePRESS Server A2000/A3000 System Software is upgraded to V1.1.

When system software is upgraded from Ver.1.0 to Ver.1.1, the BIOS must also be upgraded from v1.70 to v1.71. Usually, only System Software needs to be upgraded, so only the System Software DVDs are required. However, to upgrade the BIOS the "Software Upgrade Kit from v1.0 to v1.1" (service part) which packages the BIOS Update is released.
The Software Upgrade Kit from v1.0 to v1.1 (FE1-6254-000) for the imagePRESS Server A3000, and the Software Upgrade Kit from v1.0 to v1.1 (FE1-6257-000) for the imagePRESS Server A2000 is available for purchase through the Canon Parts Order Desk.

    Configuring the System Updates Feature:

    1. Launch Internet Explorer and enter the ip address of the Fiery as the URL.

    2. WebTools will display for the Fiery.

    3. Click the Configure tab.

    4. Click the [Launch Configure] button.

    5. Log in as Administrator (default password will be Fiery.1).

    6. Configure will launch. Click Server > System Update.

    7. Set the System Updates options as desired.

    - Enable or disable the System Updates feature.
    - Set the interval and time to check for updates.
    - Set the default behavior for Operating System Updates and Fiery System Updates.
    - Set the Proxy Server settings if required in your network environment (consult a network administrator).
    8. Click Apply.

    9. The Fiery will need to be rebooted for the changes to take effect.

IMPORTANT - All updates to the system software (Windows OS and Fiery System Software) which may be available for the Fiery and installed from any source (via the System Updates feature, provided on CD, or downloaded by the customer) are deleted when you reinstall the system software. These updates must be reinstalled again after the system software is reinstalled.

Here are the Canon part numbers to order the imagePRESS Series AXXX System Software V2.
        Part Number Description
        FE1-6376-000 imagePRESS Server A3100 V2 System Software DVD 1
        FE1-6377-000 imagePRESS Server A3100 V2 System Software DVD 2
        FE1-6369-000 imagePRESS Server A3100 V2 Media Pack
        FE1-6365-000 imagePRESS Server A2100 V2 System Software DVD 1
        FE1-6366-000 imagePRESS Server A2100 V2 System Software DVD 2
        FE1-6362-000 imagePRESS Server A2100 V2 Media Pack
        FE1-6359-000 imagePRESS Server A1100 V2 System Software DVD 1
        FE1-6360-000 imagePRESS Server A1100 V2 System Software DVD 2
        FE1-6355-000 imagePRESS Server A1100 V2 Media Pack

The imagePRESS Server ships with system software pre-installed on the HDDs.
If you must reinstall system software in the future, use the two System Software DVDs included in the media pack.

Keep in mind the following when installing system software:

        • Jobs—All jobs in all print queues and all jobs archived locally on the imagePRESS Server hard disk are deleted when you install system software.
        • Job Log—The list of jobs in the Job Log and any jobs in the queues is deleted when you install system software.
        • Fonts—All fonts on the HDDs are deleted when you install system software. Resident fonts are reinstalled when you reinstall system software. Any customer-supplied fonts must be reinstalled by the network administrator
        • Configuration page—When upgrading the system software, make sure to print a Configuration page before installing any software
        • Custom simulation and output profiles––Custom simulation and custom output profiles saved on the HDDs are deleted when you install system software.
        • Save/Restore Configuration––All Setup configurations, as well as all custom files and templates stored on the HDDs, are deleted when you install system software.
        • Technician-related software—The Operator Maintenance Assistance Software and the Canon Software for Service Technician are deleted when you install system software.
        • Compatibility—When upgrading the system software, make sure the latest user software is installed onto all computers that print to the imagePRESS Server.

System software is provided on the following media:
        • System Software DVD1—includes the Windows XPe OS and server software for the imagePRESS Server
        • System Software DVD2—includes the imagePRESS Server software.

Install system software in the following cases:
        • A HDD is replaced
        • The imagePRESS Server needs to be upgraded to a more recent version of the system software
        • The language used by the system needs to be changed
        • For troubleshooting purposes

NOTE: Complete software installation takes approximately 50 minutes.

        1. If you have not done so already, print the Job Log and save any custom simulation and output profiles. Also, print the following (if possible):
        • Configuration page
        • Font List
        2. Insert System Software DVD1 in the DVD drive.

NOTE: If you installed a new HDD, you must power on the system using the power button on the front panel, immediately insert the DVD, allow the system to boot from the DVD, and then proceed to step 6.

        3. Shut down the imagePRESS Server
Allow the system to shut down.
        4. Power on the imagePRESS Server using the power button to begin the installation process.
Wait while the system boots from the DVD. The message "Installation in progress...please wait" is displayed on the imagePRESS Server Control Panel.
        5. At the Control Panel message "All data will be deleted," press the line selection button for Yes.
        6. At the Select Language screen, select the language of the imagePRESS Server system.
Use the Up and Down buttons on the Control Panel to scroll through the list of languages.
Wait while the software files are installed on the system. Progress messages are displayed on the Control Panel as the system proceeds through the first step of the installation.
NOTE: This installation segment takes approximately 7 minutes

        7. At the message "System Software is copied to the system. Remove media and press OK to reboot," remove System Software DVD1 and select OK.
Allow the imagePRESS Server to reboot several times automatically. Progress messages are then displayed as the system proceeds through the steps to continue system software installation. The system reboots automatically after each step.
Do not interact with the imagePRESS Server during this time; if you interact with the imagePRESS Server, you will need to repeat the installation process.
NOTE: This installation segment takes approximately 25 minutes.

        8. At the message "Please insert User Software to continue installation," insert System Software DVD2 in the DVD drive.
Wait while the Control Panel displays progress messages indicating that installation is under way. During this segment, the entire contents of System Software DVD2 are copied to the imagePRESS Server HDDs.
NOTE: This installation segment takes approximately 10 minutes.

        9. At the message "Setup finished. Remove CD/DVD. System will reboot," remove System Software DVD2, and then select OK.
Allow the system to reboot and reach Idle. When the system reaches Idle, a static logo screen appears in the center of the Control Panel and the activity light turns off.

NOTE: If the Control Panel activity light flashes red, or the FieryBar on the optional monitor flashes red and displays the message "Unable to detect video boards: Make sure video boards are installed," reboot the system . If the error persists, reboot the system again.

        10. Configure Setup using the Configuration pages you printed earlier.
        11. Reinstall any software patches that were previously resident on the imagePRESS Server.

        12. Reinstall technician-related software:
        • Canon Software for Service Technician CD
        • Operator Maintenance Assistance Software CD
The technician-related software is deleted when you install system software and must be reinstalled. The imagePRESS Server must have the Advanced Controller Interface Kit installed in order to install the technician-related software.
        13. Have the system administrator reinstall any fonts or custom simulations.
Remind the system administrator that all preexisting fonts and simulations were deleted when you installed system software.
