We recently purchased an IR 2620 from one of our sister companies...mistake 1. After receiving we noticed that unlike all the other machines, this one could not fax or email scanned docs. I was then told by our local Canon rep that we needed a Super G fax board, a universal send kit and a resolution switching board. I received the items but now I am being told the "dongle" has already been married to another copier. Since I am in new Orleans and this machine is in Memphis can anyone explain to me what the dongle looks like? I received a CD and a board?

Re: IR2620 nightmare
looks just like this. But if it is already married to another machine then it will be useless to you. It is a one time use dongle and cannot be transfered....sorry

Make sure the kits are---
Resolution Switching Board A2
Color Universal Send Kit A2P
try this----
Attach the dongle to the parallel port of the computer. Open the universal send file under programs. The file will take a few seconds to open and it will automatically read the serial number of the machine for that dongle and will display it on the screen.
Call the Sister company>>>>>>>>
they may have sent u the wrong dongle / when u pull up the serial #, call them with it , maybe it can be matched up to a printer they have
if not u need a New Universal Send Kit
---------------------------------------------------------
The imageRUNNER C2620, C3100, C3200, C3220 , C5800, and C6800 models have optional Color Universal Send Kits available for them. These Color Universal Send Kits come with a dongle and a CD-ROM. The copier must be flashed from a PC (with the dongle connected to the PC's parallel port) using the Universal Send Setup Tool utility included on the CD-ROM in order to install the Universal Send feature.
Once the Universal Send option is installed on a copier using a Universal Send dongle, the Universal Send dongle becomes 'married' to the machine.
It can only be used to re-install the Universal Send feature onto the same exact machine. The dongle CANNOT be used to install the Universal Send feature onto another copier. The Universal Send Kit cannot be transferred from one machine to another.
If a dealer wants to install Universal Send onto another Color Enabled imageRUNNER machine, then he or she must purchase another Color Universal Send Kit.
The Color Universal Send Kits that ship with the Universal Send dongles are not LMS options. There is no LAN number included with the kit. There is no key number to be registered on the machine. These kits CANNOT be transferred. Please do not confuse these Color Universal Send Kits with the LMS based Universal Send Kits for the imageRUNNER XX70 Series machines (ex. 4570, 6570, 105+, etc).
Color Enabled imageRUNNER C3170i / C5870U / C6870U / C2550 / C2880 / C2880i / C3080 / C3080i / C3380 / C3380i / C3480 / C3480i / C4080 / C4080i / C4580 / C4580i / C5180 / C5180i / C5185 / C5185i / C5058 / C5068 Models:
This information does not apply to the Color imageRUNNER Cxx7x and Cxx8x models. Basic Universal Send functionality comes standard on these machines. No Universal Send Kit is required to add basic Universal Send functionality to these models. Since basic Universal Send is a standard feature on these models, it cannot be transferred from one machine to another.Last edited by teckat; 10-26-2011, 05:54 AM.**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**Comment

really?
Re: IR2620 nightmare
Thanks to all. The sister company is pretty much useless. I have contacted the company they or "we" purchased the send kit from to get a new setup.
The nightmare continues.Comment

Re: IR2620 nightmare
good luck
Keep in mind that you will need a PC with a parallel port in order to install the kit if they send you the 'P' version. I think there is a 'U' version as well that has a USB dongle with it, but I have never seen one personally.Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.Comment
