[Error Code] ir1610 error code #0802 not sending email/ifax

I get this error code #0802 on a ir1610, have tried everything to configure the smtp and network settings.

The machine will not send email/ifax, not to an outside smtp-server (provider) nor the intern network/exchange-server.

    Anyone having experience solving this?

#802 [SMTP] Sending to e-mail server
    Cause
-The SMTP server name is not properly configured in Additional Functions.
-Connection to the DNS server failed.
-The SMTP server IP address is not properly configured in Additional Settings.
    Remedy
-Check and verify that the correct SMTP server name is configured in Additional Functions.
-Check and verify that you are using a valid DNS server that has the correct name resolution to that SMTP server.
-Check and verify that the correct SMTP server IP address is configured in the Additional Functions.

Re: ir1610 error code #0802 not sending email/ifax

The problem is this: Many of the Canon copiers come with an option to "send" the document in the feeder to an email address or I-Fax with T.37 specifications. This is achieved by sending the scanned image as an attachment on an email. You must configure the copier to use your companies SMTP server to send these emails. If you are only emailing to accounts on your own SMTP server, you should have no problems. However, if you wish to email outside, to someone who's account is not on your SMTP server, your SMTP server must allow relay.

For security and spammer reasons most companies do not allow an open relay. In the old days... open relays used to be very common and some sites still run an open relay on principle.

Anyway, there is no way for the current Canon copiers to authenticate to your SMPT server and most sys admins won't let you run an open relay.

My problem within the company network (exchange) is solved (server settings). Thanks anyway.
