    IR C6870 jam code

Hi, today we were unboxing a new unit of IRC6870 and we were trying to get it run. It was the first time to unboxing for this model that took us 2 hours just to figure out how to fit in the developers and toners Unfortunately when we tear off all the seals and installed developers together with toners it came out blank copy once we made a color copy. All the cable rechecked from transfer, primary charge and developer for black toner were ok. After the few moment when we turn on the machine again it came out code e012 001 then we reset the code, turning back on the machine then it keep on adjusting gradation for about 2-3minutes before it came out the code again with e020 00ff. Sorry we dont have a service manual yet for this machine . Will be nice if someone can spare me what are the codes about, Thanks.

Since we are new for this machine i might be afraid that there are some seals are not too visible for us to tear or some connectors that we didnt connected. But we only need to put in the developers and toners only for this new machine. From what i remembered theres no connectors for CYM developers? Or is there any seals around drum assy? because we didnt see any seals around there. Its become a nightmare for me

Did you make sure the transfer locking lever is in the right place

    transfer.JPG

It should be in the up position, ignore the arrow this is from the disassembly instructions.

Where on earth did you find this relic still in box????
Stop what you are doing and buy a manual for this machine. There are a ton of service mode settings and asjustments that need to be done when setting these up for the first time and with this machine sitting in box for atleast 5 years I would hate to see what shape the toner/developer inside the developer units even look like.

A few wise words from me:
put it back in the packing, sink it in the center of the deepest sea availible in your area and do so as if you have never seen it.

Rather to make it sink than having a blur copy now ... The machine is working, thanks Herrmann and everyone.

No matter we print b/w or color the result came out blur, not so solid as we though. What i thinking is may be we exposed the drum too long while getting this beast fix or does those toners expired? Already installed toners from service mode.
Will attach the samples here soon.

we really need samples to try and help you out with all the moving parts in this machine. If that machine was truly new then those developer units have been sitting for several years and will probably cause you all kinds of issues. clumping, dumping, streaking, un-even density and overall PCQ. Sorry you have to find all of this out after the fact, but it may be best to pull those units and restart them before you do any heavy running.

Also that is an ASI drum so the light expose should not cause a blurring. a 11x17 sheet PG type 10 and PG type 5 will help us see what is going on.

overaged developer would only affect the colors, not black, because bk is one-component toner.

Just a shot in the dark: did you perform full gradation adjust?

if not, do it now and see, if something changes

Ps.: and make sure, that the firmware is the latest and greatest... there are a gazillion firmwareupdates especially for this beast

Very true as the black developer would be empty on a new install. I wonder if the ITB would be warped from sitting so long or if the cleaner blades are dry and smearing the image.

Im still asking for the firmware but perhaps not many peoples had it for this machine
Herrmann, i will do full gradation and see what will happen.

there are plenty of people with the firmware, but do not expect anyone reputable to hand it out for free.

those developer units have been sitting since the machine was made....5 years or more ago. The developer and toner will go bad from sitting that long causing all types of issues and this machine likes to dump toner...a lot. I don't think you want to be sucking out dumped toner a couple of weeks after installing this machine and finding out the really hard way just how crappy this unit really is.
